| Longer drives helps and makes a slight difference for white tees but makes a huge difference off blue tees. | |

Brother, you should not mention me in the same length as these two lor. Me at least 30m behind them. Hope His longness aka alvin's tip for me on Sun can help me to get extra distance.

| Will only help if your iron play is sufficiently good to make more GIR, or at least put you in a good position to get up-and-down.
I was a pretty decent driver when I first started out - a good 30 metres past what I do today, but my iron play is so much sharper now, I hit the green much more often.
Now if I can just learn to putt...

| i am just a little anal.. so i just put done the analysis a little bit.. hehe
suppose for par 4 and 5s.. average distance for each is like 340-400 and 420-580 meters
a long driver will be hitting 280-300 meters smelly smelly?
so the second shot in is averaging 100 meters for par 4 and 120-300 meters for par 5.
So for the Par 4s and shorter Par 5s, and being in the fairway, being a long driver really helps i would guess, as the second shot is already looking to get on the green. that makes about 10 to 12 holes per round of 14 holes (par 4 and 5s) where you would be looking at a 2 on!
conversely if i hit it short, say 200m at best. On Par 4s, i'm still 140 meters away at best and 200m at worst. and on a Par 5, i'm still 220m away at best and 380m at worst.
that makes me going for the green by the third shot on 5 par 4 holes and none of the par 5s.
I then have the result as follows; Long Drive: 2 on in 10/14 holes at worst Short Drive: 2 on in 5/14 holes at best so that means a 5 stroke differential on paper.
What do you think? any flaws in my reasoning?
