It really never cross my mind, until recently one of my friend mention to me that if I can put on slightly more weight, I can hit even longer... hmm.....
I know height do make a differents. but weight.. Question
Btw I am only weighing at 55kg. Anyone here have been hitting farther after putting on weight? Or like BMI, you need to be at a certain weight range as reference to your height in order to maximizes one's distance off the tee? scratch

of coz....according to some brainy guy long long time ago, it works this way:

F = M* A

so if you increase M, then F will go up....and if F go up, then ball go further.

errrm... i hit it further after i lost weight... so... i guess it would also work if you can increase the A part of the equation...

or realistically, increase your smash factor aka hitting the sweet spot...

nah... I don't believe this.
Bubba Watson is a skinny guy compared to some other pro and his average driving distance is the longest on the tour.

Distance depends on the speed of your club head and maybe the club weight, but your own body weight shouldn't be a factor.

i thin that depends on what weight you increase... if you increase fats weight, dun think it will help much... but if you increase muscle weight, it will help

bro, if it's muscle weight = more muscle which means greater strength = faster rotation and club speed.

The only thing that come into contact with the ball is your club head not your body. so the club height mass and speed is the only thing that directly contribute to your ball distance. it simply does not make sense scientifically.

two of the most muscular guy on the tour are probably tiger and camillo. if you've seen Bubba's hand you'll know what I mean.

Well, weight = distance. Its doesn't necessarily jive. Look at Bubba Watson. Skinny as a stick but drives long. In golf channel's playing lesson with pros, he quote a interesting word, golf is about finesse.

Tks guys for your inputs.. Even formula also comes out.. study
But come to think of it, those long hitter are either Tall (weight not an issue) or if they are Short ( usually meaty) like eg. some Thai pros. Not very often, you see someone short and underweight hitting the ball very far right? For some people who are overweight do you think you can hit further if you lose some weight? And for those underweight like myself, can putting a few more pounds makes us swing the club faster to hit further?

Why ? because they are tall, they have longer arm to get bigger arc for swing speed ?

I do not know bro .. I believe more on how you swing rather then the height or weight Smile However, I was told if you do have a stronger left arm (for right hand player) .. it help.

tall = longer arm = longer radius.
Given all else equal (rotation speed (in rpm) and club lenght) the guys which are taller has longer arm and hence has a longer radius to their center of rotation.

This translate to higher speed !

Just think of it this way. If you rotate your arm on a 90 degress with rotation based on your spine your knuckle would travel a certain x distance.
if you rotate your arm holding say a 1 meter stick on 90 degress with rotation based on your spine the tip of the stick will travel far more faster and longer distance compared to your knuckle.

It's the same logic as a sling shot. the further away the weight from the center of the rotation, the faster and further it travel (on same RPM to the short one).

Hope that helps to explain.

wah 55" shaft, is that allowed ?

I am happy enough to hit 200-220m straight rather than getting another 20 meter and end up in all over the place.

Another reason why until recently my driver been under utilized and 5 wood's been over utilized. I know they only to 200m or so, but hey that's enough for most white tee Very Happy

its not how you drive, it's how you arrive. But do agree that drive = shiok

Swing

It si the club that comes in contact with the ball but it is the body that makes the club move fast...

I am not talking about gaining muscle weight until bodybuilder type... to gain the strength weight will also increase... unless during the training you lose more fats so you may not see any change in weight.

if you take 2 person with the same weight but one with a higher content of fats... which is more efficient in swinging faster? assuming techniques is the same

Bro Weesern, I understand wat you are trying to say regarding muscle and fats. And I agree with you.
But wat if 2 person same swing techniques but different weights? Who can hit further??
Hmm.. that's wat going through my mind. scratch
Mostly people (including myself) are generally more concern abt equipments, swings etc..
Nobody will bother much abt our own weight mah..
Just wondering, if anyone was told by their coach that "You need to put on more weight/ lose some weight" in order to swing faster then before.
Just some stupid thoughts... pls forgive me... White Flag
