| wah nice avatar moon... i think u shld change ur forum nick to sailor moon..
so many things happened here over the weekend, this thread and all the seemingly 'inferno' stuffs in the other thread..
sometimes i think i take for granted a forum like this.. for members, we post when we want, we log in when we want, we bookmark when we want, we expect updates and postings, we complain about forum management, etc...
sometimes we fail to recount the journey that this forum has walked. i know i am not that of an old bird since toons days, but out of the few times i have met up with peeps like sunny, moon, mc, mt, etc.. i must say that because of our common interests on golf many friends are made. I can't compare with those of you who meet ever so often at the den, but i can safely say that bonds are made beyond the keyboard, monitor, and internet connection.
i think the distinctiveness of this forum is in bringing people together to through cyberspace, in buggies and in the den. we enjoy the game together, people get poisoned together, we argue together... it is precisely these events that make GR a community.
i don't think sunny, moon, mc, s70b, (other mods that i have missed out), succeeded in reviving a forum. Instead, you guys have built and sustained a community of golfers that jumps to the top of our minds the moment we switch on any computer that has an internet connection.
I must say i am very impressed with the initiatives of the lucky draws, logo designs, all-you-can-post competitions that resulted in tangible rewards graciously supplied by eric. All the background discussions that went into coming up with such well-received campaigns goes to show the quality and the seriousness of the mods in making this a home. It is even more amazing that they are bearing the costs, however high or menial, to sustain this. I am sure if they want to make $$, with sunny's brains, they could have done all the adsense, affiliate mktg, pay per click, till this becomes like a porn site without the porn. but they didn't
instead, they nursed this place, planned/worked for charity, conjure up dumb dice throws, and reminded when we were going out of boundaries. i don't think it is an easy job to do and at the very least, i am appreciative that they moved forward and not let the toons community die just because it crashed for watever reason.
long-winded as this post may be, i am thankful for this little home in cyberspace where our commonalities number far more than our differences.
let's all continue to support the work that the mods are doing!
cheers to mods and all the members who are keeping this forum alive!
@sunny: remember the $50 u promised me after this post. thanks ah =)

| I also would like to voice my support for the admin and give them encouragement.
GR is the first forum that I've ever participated in.
I was so surprised when talking to Sunny to find out that he was doing this entirely pro-bono. The usual forums I happen to come across are filled with adverts and just feel staid.
I've always been just a reader, and not a particpater but GR had this unique feel about it when I browsed that made it feel like a real community and so I plunged in.
It has been an excellent experience and I think we have something that cannot be easily replicated.
Sunny and Moon and other admin, job well done.

Sunny and Moon and other admin, job well done. i concur! since i joined toonshouse until it's current transfiguration into GR, it has been one of the most exciting, insightful, friendly, knowledgeable and humourous forums i've ever joined. the people, and i mean everyone, are extremely helpful and there are ppl that leave no question unanswered, no plea for help unhelped. i won't mention names here not because i want to leave it private, i just can't cos there's too many! when i'm worried about a piece of equipment or give my hacker view on certain theories of golf, many people reply and i'm only richer because of it. admin, guru or whatever, we're all part of the same community and as long as you've registered, you're a friend. hey disagreements come and go, but friendship is forever! (wah so cheesy)

| Dear Sunny and Moon, thank you for the forum and my sincerest appreciation for all that you and your team has done for this forum. I won't write too much because my england is not powderful and I don't want to kenna suan by those kantang-eaters... I have been logging in and posting on this forum so much so I think my work and sleep has been affected But I got to know great people and learn new stuff. I will try to exercise more restraint and commonsense in all my postings; and if need be you can ban me from postings;... but don't let this forum go away.. | |
