Myself not but my colleague went to KL to do it before. And now her vision is good. No hassle of lenses. But the first 2 weeks was not a good feel and had loads of tearing and eye dirt.

Myself also considering. My main problem is astigmatism and heard LASIK does not really help that. Only considered that due to golf. Realised it's very irritating to wear specs and golf at the same time.

I did mine in 2002, just for golf! I was fed up with my glasses slipping away with facial sweat when putting.

Op was done at 10am, and by same night, I was driving my car already. You need about 5 hours rest only before you can use your eyes again. First 2 hour it's all blur.

Now after 8 years, I still can see clearly how far my ball lands from tee box. No regret. In 2002, cost was $4,000+ for both eyes, now it's only half price so definitely worth it.

Hi eden
I had lasik done about 2 years ago and it was the best thing I have ever done. From a golfing perspective the hole looked bigger, you can see the grain and depth perception improved. Also the hassle of sweat dripping on the lenses and water when it rains eliminated.
I have had no problems since the surgery and highly recommend it.
My prescription was only 1.5 to 2.0. I think this range gives good results. High range may be a different story.

I had the surgery with Dr CH Low. His details below

Wife did abt 2 yrs ago. Her first comment...why didn't I do that years ago. Its a miracle. Imagine waking up and seeing everything without the need for glasses.

BTW, I did mine with Dr CH Low also.

But I remember, best result is for people with very high power, like 1,000+. Mine was about 500+. Usually if your power is only 100-200, they do not recommend this op so I am surprised RSC did his.

You need to visit the eye doctor to check your cornea thickness first to see if your eyes are suitable. If your cornea is too thin, they will not op on you. Other problems will be diabetes etc...

Astigmatism can be corrected with latest machines. Please check with your eye surgeon. I did mine 8 years ago and my mild astigmatism was not 100% corrected, still I am happy with the results.

I've got high astigmatism too. ~350 in both eyes, which is considered very high.. doc says national average is <100.

Anyhow, paid more for the 4k for both eyes treatment.. intralase + wavefront at Premium Lasik Surgery Clinic (www.plsc.sg). Did under Dr Leonard Ang. Experienced in eye treatment like cornea transplant and implantable contact lens.

First night after surgery was pretty bad for me, but 2nd day onwards, wow.. it was really wow.

Side effects for having high astig in the past includes starbursts and hallows at night, but according to doc, it will improve and stabilize over 6-9 months. I've done my lasik about 1-2 months ago.. already improving..

I am in the situation where it's neither here nor there. Short sighted less than 100 each eye. Astigmatism 100 each. Go do LASIK doc probably won't advise at all.

Hi Guys

I had considered about getting LASIK 5 years back. I went to the clinic for checkup but found that my cornea was too thin so the doctor said he can't promise me good eyesight. My astig is also on the high side, about 200 on both eyes.

Really sad news for me, guess I'll have to stay with those big glasses.... Sad

Hopefully in the not too distant future, people with thin cornea can correct their eyesight to 20/20....

Cheers

P.S. Wow I just did my 100th post..... haa haa

I think I am one of those lucky ones. Like I mentioned, I was driving on same night of my operation.

Starbursts went away in only a few months, now no more, may be my eyes get used to it. I can drive at night along North South Highways at 150kmph comfortably.

I don't even recall having dry eyes, although I read about this other people's experience.

My astig was not 100% removed, so initially sometimes I see double image of traffic lights at night (both green and red). But this has also gone away.

As in all sugery, there will be risk. The surgeon makes sure you are aware of the risks and I remember having to sign a waiver prior to the procedure as in other surgery.

Did mine in 2003 at National Eye Centre.. cost quite a bomb back then (cant really remember how much i paid)..

Like fellow bros have mentioned here, not every one is suitable but with technology advancing, who knows.. I would always recommend to go for the eye assessment first and let the expert recommend what is suitable for u. no harm done except for the price of the assessment of course.. hee..

no major problems for me.. operate one eye in the morning, by evening, i dun need my glasses anymore but feels weird coz back then, eye centre only work on 1 eye at a time so i have a good eye and a blurry eye before my ops on the 2nd eye..

no issues on dryness as i guess my eyes are pretty teary by nature.. and with regards to halo, i dun hv much problems with that either..

Did my ops with Dr Wee Tze Lin but he has since moved on to private practice already..

So quick go book ur appt for eye assessment first..

hm. same day operation, and looks like you guys have had few issues. Maybe I should consider getting my eyes assessed. Any idea what the cost is?

Is there only one kind of LASIK? Maybe my info came from people who did it much earlier on, when the technology was still new

i did mine 10 years ago and for the first time, i felt that i was superman with bionic eyes. i could zoom into the car plate of a car 30-50m away and read the number clearly while driving.

Over the years, the bionic eyes started to lose power. I can still drive and do everything without glasses, but can hardly see where the ball land these days....

Hi Salty Dog, if I remember correctly I thought I saw you wearing glasses for the anniversay game.

I have thought of doing it but was afraid of the procedure (afraid of needle coming to my eyes affraid sure blink one). As my degree is not high I decided to live with it and just wear the daily disposable contact lenses for my golf games.
