| Anyone can give an idea, what does it take to qualify (i.e average handicap, or something like that)
Also, i heard over tv shows that some people pull out due to funding reasons. What would a person expect from a tour like that. (the amount they can be looking to spend)

| Driving range Pro play Local Tour also cannot make it (most of the time) Local Tour Pro play Asian Tour also cannot make it (most of the time). Asian Tour Pro play European Tour also cannot make it (most of the time). European Tour Pro play PGA Tour also cannot make it (most of the time).
So what's the friggin point of this? Joke? Oh, ahahahhaaa...

| I guess being a teacher and hanging around pre-pubs or teenagers has brought your mentality down to those you 'teach'. Nice.
The idea is to share how much it takes financially to join Q school and how many stages there are. For those who honestly consider, you can also plan which courses you wanna play in the country to lead you up to the finals at Orange County National.
I never say never because there will always be 1 one day. It may not be anyone here in this forum but I do not think that someone from Sg making it here will be too far-fetched or beyond reason.

| Yupz, that's why I asked. Not sure if it is too late for me to dream this dream at this age since I only held a golf club like 1 mth ago only. But good to be aware and work towards it. | |

| hey, cool, that was interesting info - never realized it was THAT hard to get through Q school. If you don't have at least USD20k, don't bother. I guess this is where some of the better players out there find sponsors (I'm sure TM, Titleist, etc sponsor something somewhere), along with local businesses, to help cover the costs. At least there is some prize money at the end, but I think the players would be more concerned about winning so that they can get their PGA tour cards and from ther, maybe find more generous sponsors, etc
My god, it does have me wondering how much better these guys are compared to recreational or amateur golfers -- like they say in ESPN:
These guys are Good

| Go read John Feinstein's 'Tales From Q School'. It documents the trials and tribulations of many who struggle to keep their card or live their dream. Ex-Major winners included.
Makes those who play the game for leisure give those who aren't really TW, Phil and Ernie's class that bit more respect for grinding it out and trying over and over again.

| Speaking of TW, what do you think of his Saturday surge? Think he can keep it up? I'm hoping that he does win the US Open - the tour was a whole lot more fun to watch when you had 30 guys trying to beat Tiger, instead of 30 guys in a free-for-all
His personal transgressions aside, he's a damn good golfer, not as PR-friendly as Phil, but when he's got his game on, he seems pretty untouchable. Two days ago, I didn't think he stood a chance at a top-10 finish. Yesterday's performance has him standing behind Dustin and Graeme, but I have a feeling that Dustin's going to crack, while Graeme may hang on (he's experienced, and used to playing under this kind of pressure). What happened to Fowler may happen to Dustin, since this is his first time going into the final day at the top of the leaderboard....

| That world class performance was just a few hours ago actually. I nearly turned the TV off after watching him butcher #2 and #3 with back-to-back bogeys. Luckily for me I didn't and to watch him hit shot after shot closer to the pin as the day wore on makes me tingle with delight to see shades of his glorious past. I hope he keeps hitting those fairways and greens though. Pebble's not a course where you need driver (as evident by Phil who hit 5 iron-9 iron into #8 on Friday). That will soften his achillie's heel of missing fairways with the big dog. Dustin is a solid performer. Consecutively winning the AT & T shows he knows how to plot ard this course. Graeme was solid but not spectacular so might be the sleeper winner. Both of them need the 5 and 2 strokes advantage they have over Tiger to try and win this thing properly. | |

| Do you think Ryo has a chance? What guy has an amazing swing. Not conventional (swing plane seems slightly funky when you look down the line in slow-motion), but certainly effective | |

| Watching golf here in US is a guessing game.
During normal PGA tour events, the weekday coverage is broadcasted on The Golf Channel. Wkn play is shown either on CBS or NBC.
During this US Open, the 1st 2 days were shown on ESPN. Today it was NBC. Had to channel surf to find out what time it came on and for how long.
I pity TGC. They do not have the rights to these important events and only ends up talking and discussing the game while showing scores as the day goes on. Nobody wants to tune in to that.
Back to Ryo. he played some great golf today. The bogeys he made were with a balky putter and some loose iron shots. Otherwise, I think he hung in there well.
A Top 10 finish is what I think he will do. Major pressure is only handled well by a few who have experience.

Hi MC, my mistake in thinking that there was no live telecast of the US Open when all the time it was on ESPN Channel instead. Kept searching the Golf Channel and could not find it. Sigh..... really one leg across already.... titu
