Hi guys/gals,

I've always wondered if there is anything else I could buy out there to facilitate my game.. another wedge, wood even high performance tee etc etc...

Every two minutes my mind is going wild and I end up surfing for e-bays, marketplace (GR) etc etc to look out for deals...

Ok, before i go berserk with new searches.. the following are my equipment, bear in mind I am a noobie, and the distance in brackets are estimated range I can go with individual clubs as a gauge for the mileage of my existing equipment.

PLS SHARE your wealth of experience and tell me WHAT ELSE would I need. Esp the "PRO's" out there.. Do share.. Thanks in advance guys!!!!

1. Driver - Taylor Made R9 , S Flex. (Average 190-200m <inclusive roll>, 6-7/10 shots)
2. Irons - Taylor Made Burner 09 (5I ~140m, 7I~130m, 9I~110m)
3. Wedges - Nickent 60 deg ARC (~65m) and Cleveland G15 (~85m) 52deg zip grooves.
4. Putter - Ping
5. Hybrid - Nickent 3DX #4 , 23deg (~150m)

All the distance are based on the balls in OCC.

I am considering to buy a wood but which one? Or should I just get a #3 hybrid instead. I'm starting to get ahead of myself here... so any advice is greatttttttttt!!! share pls..

u have a huge distance gap between ur hybrid and driver, may want to fill it up with a 4wood or 2hybrid instead of 3h

40m distance to be exact.. Well that 2 hybrid can sure work something for me. To be honest, I've never hit a wood in my life.

I picked up hybrid right after my irons, last was the driver. Psychologically, I think I'll just got for that 2 hybrid.

Whats the hybrid u using now bro?

In summary, my main weakness are ,

1. Getting a consistent swing for my driver. It tend to fade right. At times, I'll just totally miscue it. I'm still not too confident with my drive yet.
2. Short game, especially from the bunker. I dread coming out of the bunker.
3. Taking shots from ridges, undulating ground.
4. Long putts, my reading of line is ok i guess but my putt strength is inconsistent.

Other than that, I am happy with my game.

I think 56 deg wedge is worth the investment. As noobie, invest more in short game... that will improve score faster... does your TM set include 56 deg wedge?

I'm also a newbie and confirm a newer newbie. But could it also be your swing Consisyency rather than clubs that needs a little adjustment? If anything I agree with eiji on the hybrid. A 3 hybrid should fill the gap nicely Just my non pro opinion.

Looking at the problems that you mention, maybe spend money on lessons? I did that, and it did more for my game than all the training aids I got my hands on Smile

Bro 56 * wedge is equivalent to the Sand Wedge. I am sure every iron set has a Sandy inside. Am I righ there Begbie ? You got a sand wedge in your full iron set?? Or am I presuming too much? scratch scratch

Yeah I've a 56 deg wedge. Thanks !!
Maybe a swing coach to improve will do some good too.
Lots of good suggestion to consider here.

But the one distance I'm missing from my clubs are def a 170 or 180 on my second shot. That will make my life much easier on a par 4.

Given your driver distance, you may benefit from a club that helps you get on green (or get close to) par 4 in two or for long par 3s. Distance in the 170m+ range, possibly 18-19 degree loft, a 2 hybrid or a 5 wood depending on your preference.

If your 60 deg has enough bounce (> or = 10 deg) then it's good in the sand. Otherwise, a 56 wedge with high bounce is just the right club to help you in the bunkers.

best if you can get both, It's GSS! Very Happy

I have other irons but too long to list them. So I'm listing from s to 5i. Anythin in between just interpolate accordingly.

If you comfortable with your current game plan, then no need. Of coz, if conversely, then you need. eg. if you want to 2ON for par 5, then chiak lak liao with this current equipment combination you have.

PS: Pls don tell anybody, I carry wood just to balance my bag only.....I donno how to use wood actually....

Almost same here...

I carry wood but only use maximum once in 18 holes...

My driver is performing better than wood in tee .... hybrid 24 deg performs better in fairway...
Use wood only because already bought so better use at least once...
considering selling my wood...

See Computer too long, very confusuing, let me re-list :-

1. Driver - 200m
2. 23deg Hybrid - 150m
3. 5i - 140m
4. 6i
5. 7i - 130m
6. 8i
7. 9i - 110m
8. PW
9. AW ( 52deg) - 85m
10. LW ( 60deg) - 65m
11. Putter

mmm..still can fill 3 more pieces.... But if have no problem with the dist and game plan, better dun be backside itchy and find problem...
Maybe lacking is a piece of wood or another hybrid to cover 180m for long par5 and 4.

But see which one you are more comfortable with.

Most importantly, is to see a Pro and see how to cover the 150 to 200 gap, either the swing or maybe another equipment.

Just my 5 cents.

at this moment I'm not keeping score. Just wanna take one shot at a time. Trying to keep committed with every shot. I find that real diff with so many variations of the game. But I try to keep that drill as much as I can Wink

with the clubs u have, as long as the par 5 is less than 500m, u should be able to GIR.

How well do u hit ur hybrid? if ok, then consider getting something longer. if not, practise with the current hybrid first
