Am hoping to get a LASIK appointment for surgery on Saturday -- anyone know if there will be any issues playing on Monday 1.5 days after a LASIK op? Smile

Not recommended to engage in outdoor activities so soon after ops.

Sentive to bright lights and may experience dry eyes...

Cheers...

depends on your reaction.

are you getting the actual surgery or evaluation?

if evaluation, i was up and about the next day. some people feel groggy. my brother cannot get used to the bright light as the dilation drops didn't seem to wear off for a day or 2.

if surgery, then you will need to rest the eye for like a week? but should be able to play the very next day. your eyes can get dry and irritated, so bring a lot of eye drops and keep out the dust.

also now there are 2 types of procedures. the flap method and the intralasik method i think. the worry is that the flap may unflap if you do shower, swim or strenious activity i think.. don't shake your head.. hehheheh.
the intralasik is burning under the cornea.. so no flap.. so no risk of unflapping i think..

anyway better ask the eye doctor..

Oakleys, baby Smile

Believe me, if the op happens on a Saturday, I'm going out that very same evening to pick up my very first pair of Oakley sunglasses Smile

@mizzy - actual surgery, not evaluation. Given my game, I'll probably be more irritated over bad drives and missed putts Very Happy

let's see how it goes first. i need to get eyes sorted out cos there is no way for me to wear contacts or get prescription sunglasses for my prescription, so LASIK might be the only option, and I have read good things about waveform LASIK and EpiLASIK. If this works, I'll be able to get proper eye protection against the sun (which admittedly is a little too intense even for me to handle over here).

But definitely looking forward to playing a round with you guys when I get back Smile

GHOONK!!

You should buy your oakleys before you go for your surgery my dear bro. You won't wanna go anywhere after the surgery. just wanna go home and sleep away the pain and discomfort. 1.5 days after ur eyes will be still feeling very dry and a bit of discomfort, i don't think any sports is recommended. chinese saying " Rest is to walk the longer road ahead" please don't hurry back into the game if u just had lasik, make sure it is given its due time to recover.

HAR?

I was told that it should be up and running as usual within 2 days. Was also told that most people were able to drive the next day already.

Reason I was gunning for the assessment to be done on Friday (I have an appointment at SNEC at 8.40 am, and I touch down at 7.30 am) is to give me (and the doc) enough time to do a post-op assessment at the end of the week. Probably will not be around for the 1st month assessment, but will probably be back in Sept in time for the 3rd month one...

yes u can drive, but doesn't mean u can play sports, there will still be discomfort and night driving is a big no no, the HALOs and Starburst effect can be quite bad. and dryness is something u would constantly experience, if u play golf u need to drop eye drops almost every 2 holes.

Listen to Eiji Ghoonk. I know of two people who went for Lasik. A lot of discomfort for them after the surgery. Like wisdom tooth extraction, some eat steak right after, others can't eat solid food for close to a week. Suppose it's the same here, except it's your eyes. Running around playing golf is a definite no no.

I was told by one that you're not supposed to let water touch your eyes for two weeks for fear of infection. Play golf sure sweat, and sweat in your eye is for sure worse than water bro. And no rubbing of eyes. Got sweat, sure auto rub one...

Me three. I would rather you take a break after the Lasik and have a rest than risking your eyes for just a game. It will always be there waiting for you anytime in the future. But should you risked playing, touch wood, and something bad happen, you will regret for the rest of your life and we will also feel guilty for playing that game. Ok, I suggest that we all withdraw so that Ghoonk can't do anything about it. OK EVERYONE ?

Withdraw but keep the flight pairings, and use that to organise group visit to wish him well.
