| Picture this.... NSRCC range on a weeknight and there's a nice breeze going on with the range about 80% full....
A balding uncle in his 50's whom I believe will struggle to break 100 and can't consistently get his drives past the 150m marker is hitting in the stall behind a young pretty lady who's a beginner. Bear in mind that the lady is with her male partner who's also giving her golfing tips. Guess what happens next? Old man goes over to the lady and starts giving her coaching lessons!!
It was a sight to behold.

| Giving tips to your friends is one thing but actually going over to a stranger who's with their boyfriend/partner and offering tips is another. I gues his hormones go the better of him. | |

| My coach used to tell me golf coach is a good career path. Rarely will have no business in recession. Then weekday afternoons got more mature tai tai's come to learn golf while their husbands are at work, weekday nights got sweet, young executives come to learn golf together with their other sweet young executive friends. Weekends got yummy mummies who bring their young kids to come and learn golf while they sit there with their prada sunglasses and LV handbags, cross-legged and demure, watching their kids learn the rich man's sport. Work times are long, but fairly flexible, and u have th priviledge of actually telling people to move out of the bay coz u are the coach and have lessons. AND u get to play golf everyday, and if u bring students to course to learn, they subsidize ur entrance fee too What's not to like abt being a golf coach? | |

| muar chee: by normal, do you mean that you've witnessed this often or is this sort of thing normally expected of elderly gents on SYT?
alvin: I think by the time I become his age, I'll not be hanging around the range hitting balls and trying to improve my swing.
dran: different strokes for different folks, but I couldn't imagine a more torturous career than being a golf coach (in-so-far as I enjoy playing golf as much as I do).

| 2nd Interesting Tale Was ranging at the same aforementioned range with a buddy who shoots in the 80's and uses blades. He takes out his newly shafted 3 wood, addresses the ball and then proceeds to completely wiff it. Wow!! Mishitting it is one thing, but completely missing it is another..... | |

| benhogan: If the ah pek was Ben Hogan, I'll even seek out his tips. But this guy was really bad.
watermyforrest: I think he was a bit intimidated by us because I was 2 stalls away from him and my buddy was the one after that. I arrived steaming after a crappy day so was basically going all out and pounding the balls without much chatting with my buddy. My buddy also started off striping his irons fairly well. But then again, his antics had me in stitches....
Edgarkj: Old man bore a striking resemblance to those the Singaporean Chinese men you see hanging around Lucky Plaza on a Sunday hoping to get lucky ......

What's not to like abt being a golf coach? think this happens only at MBGC....exactly as u describe. Plenty of SYT, Tai Tai, PRCs etc needing 'personal' attention to learn golf, 'attention' that the male student will thankfully never receive.

| So, has any guy had a woman golfer at the range offer unsolicited advice with a view to a pick-up? Not me for sure. | |

i have seen a bunch of uncles practising at the OCC range. one was trying to impress me with his swing but he simply could not launch his shot using his driver. he topped the balls and it was rolling away some 20-30m away. i give him 10 out of 10 for bravery. i must confess, i did something really mean - i took out my driver and drove the balls some 150m away. ok ok, short for a lot of GRians here, but that's is my distance la. nothing to be ashamed of. so that poor uncle; sigh, he was so shy, he packed his clubs and called it a day.

| limyael: Dude, you're cruel. Hehehehe Considering that most men consider driving distance to be analogous to the size of their manhood.... I think you must have single-handedly caused the uncle to either get a year's supply of Cialis or make an urgent appointment with his urologist | |
