Do you repair your ballmarks? I notice some of the people I play with don't. Sometimes, its plain laziness, bo chup-ness and others its because they do not go out of their way to look for theirs.

Ballmarks are an eyesore on greens and a bane to putt over. Please repair yours.

Also, many people do not know the proper way to repair them. Do it once, do it right and everyone will be thankful.

PS: Watch the way you walk over greens too. Ballmarks on your line can be repaired but spikemarks cannot be till after your putt. No

Steven, you play in TMCC....where greens are almost immaculate. Laughing

I'm talking about courses with higher traffic like MBGCC, NSRCC and those in JB.

I pass my handicap test by repairing ballmark and filling up divot on the course (handicap at Seletar Base GC 2002) I love you

Always enjoy filling up divot and repairing pitchmark on any course from NSRCC to Palm Resort ! It help me to calm down and regroup if i hit a bad shots.... Swing

If you keep repairing and filling up divot and ballmarks on the course and green....the back flight dare not rush you as they thought you are the Golf Committee.... Hooray

I actually enjoying keeping pitch marker and Ball markers.... Stretcher

errr...donno le...but could be becos it does not have the 'spade' function like the pitch marker. But nevertheless, since then, I thought that the pitch marker is not heavy and not ex....might as well just follow the right procedure lor.....but on the other hand, there is always the view that if really did not bring, then better use tee than don repair at all..

Bro Jimmy, pls don get me wrong...as I am not stating what is right or wrong. Just tat, I was told during one of my games quite awhile ago to use the right tool...that's all. Better repair than no repair ...I will leave the right or wrong to the green keepers.

The pro in the video I attached is using a tee. It works just as well if you know how to use it properly. Smile

I try to repair ballmarks on the green whether or not they are in my line of sight though I'm sure I may have missed many along the way. What I see, I try to fix.

I had a gold-plated long-tined Rolex one until wify 'confiscated' it from me.

Now, same as JC, me use two wooden tees to repair ball marks.

I tried to repair my ball marks even at Tee One (ex-Royal Tanglin 9 hole, Par 3 course) a few days ago and could not find the ball mark because there were too many other pits and ball marks on the green.

Still managed +3 score over 9 holes using just a putter, PW and 9 iron. (My best so far at NSRCC's 9-hole course was +4 as it was also at Mandai Exec GC.)

If only I shot close to that on a full-size course! Just call me 'Prince of the Micky Mouse Courses'.

I have not even broke 100 yet over 18-holes on a full-size course.

The good thing is I can make par on full-size course par-3 holes usually unless the Par 3s are ridiculously long like 190-200 metre monsters with many hazards or water surrounding the green or steep dual-tier surfaces.

Played Dendro at OCC this morning and would have scored under 100 (gross) if I had the time to continue another nine holes most likely--grossed 48. And that is even with a stupid score of 8 on Hole #1--hit too far right into the short trees, chipped onto fairway with wedge, fairway shot landed in a large greenside bunker, repeat bunker flub shot (too short pitch), long downhill putt back towards hole, missed two short putts.

Tempted to throw my Scotty into the bushes in anger but controlled my temper as the OCC marshalls were watching our flight.

Mad

Made up for a few bad holes later with two pars -- one was a par 3 hole and the other a par 5 (from blue tees) hole.

C'est la golfe!

I am making this a sticky. Pls take time to repair your ball mark the next time. I am sure your flight mates and the flight waiting behind will not mind.

If I may add on so as to assist greenskeepers and newer golfers...

Most current designs (Scotty Cameron included) are outdated, designed based on what was once deemed the correct way to repair divots by lifting up the centre of the pitchmark. Why haven't they changed? Perhaps cos the tools are so cheap, it doesn't make sense to redesign the divot tools and the machines that manufacture them due to cost, so just keep making and selling them to rake in the profits. They still can be used to repair pitchmarks the correct way (applies to those divot tools with a bend in them), just flip them over so you have a convex bend (instead of a concave bend) when inserting into the ground.

There are new designs emerging that facilitate repairing pitchmarks the correct way, like the Champ FlipFix II which has a smoked silver gloss finish. Not too heavy in the pocket yet still with a nice heft and fit in the hand. As you can see from the black parts in the pic , the underside is rubberized. Well made, the hinge locks in place with a soft click when opened. I got mine at Golf House by the way, for a little over $20.

In case anyone is thinking of getting a nice divot tool after seeing the video, here's a short review:

With shorter and wider tapered prongs the newly-designed Flip Fix II has added durability while still making it easy to slip into the turf and repair the deepest of ball impressions. The Flip Fix II also features a clam-shell mobile phone-style closure which allows it to be comfortably stored in the pocket without the golfer receiving a sharp poke in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Champ logo is a magnetic ball marker.

I played TMCC Gardens right after HSBC and you can imagine the greens were just awesome, smooth like a carpet. But during the marshall thank you game two days later, I found many pitch/ball marks un-repaired. Very ironic especially when marshalls were playing. I tried to repair them while waiting for others to putt. But I was quite dissapointed when one of my flight mate joked sarcastically that the other golfers dont repair because they know I will. Not funny. Suspect

Just played OCC last weekend and as usual, many pitch marks weren't repaired.

Thot I bumped this up for us GR-ians to lead by example. You may be ridiculed but hope we all do the right thing. Because we all want to play a smooth green. They dont happen by chance.

Fighting! Laughing

I cant agree more. But I am pretty sure I am the least possible culprit

why? my bloody ball flt is 4ft fm ground level most times....if anything, the ball mark is on the fairway...before trikle to green

Regardless, yes....repairing is the way to go.....unless one don believe in Karma. BTW, I was also coach on repairing by a PGA pro Daniel Chopra thru golf channel (my one stop golf coaching resource)
