Sultan Johor just passed away (Those going into JB please be careful)

Just came back from JB and heard one of my friends kena saman for not wearing a black arm band to mourn the passing of Johor sultan. Another trick for those uniformed robbers to squeeze money from shoppers in JB.

Heard Octville and of couse RJCC closed as a sign of respect for the sultan but I also heard the mourning period will be 7 days. So if you guys are having any games next few days in Johor please call to confirm they are open before u set off for ur game.

Just a friendly warning..but better be safe ya?

i went palm resort this am, most of the male staff had their songkok on, and otheres were not in their usual colourful red uniforms. but biz as usual.
i din know until as i was leaving that i saw the flags at half mast...

yup...was told about Octville and RJCC by the receptionist..then after lunch friend's friend sms us warning us about the black arm band...i think could be isolated incidents but just be alert if some joker pretend to be police ask u money

Okay, does wearing red means a bad idea tomorrow ? Seems black clothes is more appropriate during the travel. Any thoughts ? Sounds silly, but I just want to minimize the possibility of problem going there...

In my many years of living in MY, I have never heard abt wearing a black band for Sultan's funeral. Never. Even when Ago passes ago. I think ppl got con liao.

today saw a whole group of police escort wearing the black arm band leh

Thats for the police. But not for general public. This is the first time I heard of this.

non muslims were encouraged to wear black arm band as sign of respect and mourning. it was in the paper too. whether u wanna wear or not is up to you. I heard some ppl kena saman for not wearing. i dun see any enforecement fellas around at the mall. what's the point of enforcing. they should be mourning.. not catching ppl. ha ha

i was in jb whole day yesterday. did see a few fellas wear black arm band. but i would say majority 99.9% non muslims that i came across did not bother. So it is quite individual.

anyway. i wore all red yesterday because i know man utd were gonna whip hull city in the evening.

anyway. RJCC is open today. I just called. They were closed for one day, yesterday.
