| I have heard of #3 and have personally used BFG's services. Nothing short of impressive.
I've not heard of #1 and #2 so cannot comment. I have, however, heard of Bob's Golf which is located at Rangoon Rd. Never tried before but I'm happy to add it to the list:
1. The Golf Studio 2. Torque Golf 3. Big Fish 4. Bob's Golf

Also tried a hand at the speed chain. Defiantely gives you a workout. There are also other interesting stuff there as well. Met Stanley and some other staff there. All knowledgeable and nice. Defiantely a place to check-out.

| At Torque Golf, Joseph Loo is heading the fittings. He's one of the few fitters trained in the States. And has been the official fitter for quite a few European/ Asian Tour events.
Which fitter you go to will also depend on the equipment you are looking for.
Golf Studio does Nakashima and Accra. Torque Golf does mainly OZIK and Miura.

| anyone knows what happened to american golf which was at parkland driving range? That was a nice fella, but i brought 3 friends there and as "knowledgable" as he claimed he was, he had the same comments for each of them.
Here goes:
" Dont mind me saying, but your body is not proportionate. Your hands are longer than normal, so you might need a shorter shaft, or your hand speed needs to match up better when you swing becuase of your longer arm length "
Again i say, he's a nice fella, but my 3 friends didn't want to go back to him because of this comment. They took these comments rather personally, and also, they look as yan dao and normal built to me as ever.

| Thanks lamts and nientsu for the nice comments. My take on a club fitter is simple. Get what you like and fits your game. It helps that the fitter has a good understanding of swing mechanics. I always tell golfers to try everything and do some research.
Guys on tour have the best launch monitors and fitters servicing them money can buy. Yet, these guys are still changing equipment. For iron fittings, unless it is done on grass, the results actually won't be accurate.
For me, I think most of the fitters are well qualified or experience, else they would have closed down. If anyone is coming down, just drop me a line. Will make sure I am there.

| The Golf Studio.I must credit Mark Higgs for being the one who introduced me to the wonderful world of golf equipment. He was also an influence on my preference for Titleist equipment. He turned my stock, almost unplayable Nike Pro Combo set of irons into a set I relied on for 3 years. It also helped to push my scores down from mid 80s to low 80s after a layoff because of army boot camp. He also changed the way I bought Drivers. He is very knowlegeable about the swing and equipment because he was (still is actually) a former pro (think ex-national coach but fell out w the authorities). He is not very open or friendly to people he doesn't know well. Once you get to know him better, he will open up more and is actually a very funny and friendly guy. Come to think of it, he's probably the only caucasian (Zimbabwean) I know who has a thick Singaporean accent when he sometimes speaks quickly (Been here for more than 12 years and has a lovely local wife and kids) One thing is he's very open and critical about things he doesn't like or see. Many will not find this acceptable as we are all typically of an Asian background and tend to keep things to ourselves more often. Because of this, he has offended quite a few people before. (I am not one of them though) His preference for shaft fitting of drivers sometimes is to use lighter shafts and tipping them to the stiffest possible flex you can handle. It may or may not work for some. Generally, there's more than 1 way to skin a cat. I know many might not find this acceptable but the equipment he has done for me worked good. The 907D2 I got from him is still a backup driver. One thing too is that you have to make an appt for a clubfitting session as he's always bz. Those trying your luck by walking in might be turned away if he's alr fully booked. Also, your clubs might take up to a week to be completed if he's bogged down by orders and generally, he's a 1 man show. Big Fish GolfI only got to know DGMan beginning of this year after I wanted to try and reshaft my 905R because it wasn't really performing up to its full potential (off centre hits were very off). After getting fitted, I was surprised that he wasn't interested in asking me to pay at all! This is something very American (Guarantee you like the product or your money back) and I was surprised to find that a local company does this. Because of his trust in me as the customer, he has found a very satisfied individual who will go back to him for his golfing needs because of the honor system. BFG is not pushy. Whereas if during the fitting session they see that its your swing that needs re-tooling, they will not fit you and will insist that you get lessons to sort out your game 1st. I totally agree with this concept. Why use a handiplast to cover a slash wound? It wun help a bit. They have a very open and friendly concept. People whom you do not know will talk to you and after that, the chatting will start. This is good as everyone has a common interest in the golf game and have many different views on it. (Just don't come in fresh, be an attention seeker demanding special treatment. Worse, sit down bragging about your long drives or low handicap. There are many good players and real pros there, even more than you think although they dun look like it.) Turnover rate for reshafting and club services is very good. It normally takes oni a day to get your full set done. Grip changes can be done in 1hr tops if they are busy. Very professionally done too. DGMan has a very strict QC by supervising Ultraman and Jeff Cao occasionally to make sure everything is how the customer wants it to be. Lastly, I am an equipment freak, in particular, a putter fanatic, and its great to see that DGMan shares the same passion (His pocket is of course much thicker la so he can showcase it ). I never get tired sitting at his sofa admiring his Scotty Camerons everytime I'm there. I know of many others who like golf equipment or share my passion for tinkering as much as some of the people who frequent there. | |

LOL golfers can be so vain....... i dont mind a fitter telling me i am so fat i cannot swing normally, only if he tells me how else to do it. for example the above, if he say 'hands speed need to match up' but never explain what is means and how to fix it, it pointless and the guy will feel a bit pissed off. point to learn, if you cannot take valid (and most likely correct) criticism from a pro, imagine how your wife/GF feels when you try to give them your pearls of wisdom (as well as pointing out all her faults).

| My own comments:
Raymond (Tradehub 21): He is very experienced club fitter. He can gauge things mostly by observation alone.
Alex (Golf Exchange, Hong Leong): He gives you what you want.
Eric See (Fairways now, I think): He is my first club fitter. Fitted me very well. It is because of his fitted driver that I am able to first drive over 250metres.
Eric Ng (BigFish): As above. plus always no stock for preferred grips. or not no stock for this and that. everything always run out. then if you order, have to wait so long.
My above comments are factual. Just got to read it deeper. These are the club fitters that I have used personally. But I just go back to 1 now only. no prizes for guessing that right.

| good one MC.....
btw your order for kajiki 100X will be here in a years time, the luminous lime green tour velvet is still under prototying (they need to find and catch those special marine fish off Guam for the luminous effects as it cannot be replicated by chemical) and finally the Zen people are still trying to figure out how to make a H shape putter thats 60 degree FB.
so i will not see you for another year at least....unless you join us for the post IK-U game TCSS session at you know where.
