Me...the Aggressive or Stupid Golfer?

Well, I think I am aggessively stupid

Scenario:

....Drive ball to right...path to green blocked by some scatter trees.......t and a bit rough

choice of shot:
Tried to punch the ball under the tree...

Result:
1st shot ....duff it.....still persist....2nd shot, ball hit tree....3rd shot...decide to play chip to left....sighhhhh

what is aggressively stupid about punching under the trees?

I would have clubbed up 2 and wack it through the trees.

happened to me too.... but on review, the first duff was due to too much focus on getting the result (punch it through, get it on, etc), so swing was off immediately... after that, lost patience and confidence, resulting in even poorer control and result...

will i do it again the next time? maybe ... so, m i 2 optimistic or stupid? only yourself will know

i also worried because when muar chee gets angry on the golf course... u know who is the one who directly suffers...

@slinger. no worries. of course, i will not blindly just hit through the trees like that.

I would look for a small opening amongst the trees for the ball to go through.

MBGC no trees leh.. so no worry lah Slinger. Secret to punching out under trees, just look at the ball and whack, if you look up and see the tree, YOU WILL HIT THE TREE.

Duval, i think nothing is wrong in your choice of play. i think it is more of a 'skill' problem and your ability to execute such shots. Just remember that when you are executing shots that are unconventional or something you do not do often, you got to concentrate and focus more on the shot to be able to pull it off.

but if you are talking about your self-assessment of your own skill level and you still went ahead to try to pull a funny shot that you never try before, in this case, a punch shot. then yes, u may have been abit too aggressive.

Just play within your means... No need to save par everytime. sometimes all u have to do is to save double bogey to win a hole...

i wouldn't say skill or not...coz our skills sux......

but if u feel tht u only got <2-3 out of 10 to pull out the shot, then forget it....

this horse is more like rodeo..

i usely 7 iron just little punch.... or try if it bermit me to ger a hook ball to go AROUND THE TREE BUT IT DEPEND ... THERE ISNT ANYTHING STUPID TO PUNCH . IT JUST UR STRUGGLING HOLE WHERE U WANT WITH A BOGGEY U WILL HAPPY

Maybe next time can try either using a Driver or 3W... Choke down on the club... Weight on your left (provided your a Rightie)... Play the shot like a pitch shot or a 3/4 swing shot!!!

Thank you all for your advice ..... I think I will need to reflect on my Zen golf philosophy ie never practise too much , for one will waste one's allocated yearly quota of good shots ...
