| Beware titanium face driver... if you play 3time a week. Especially King Cobra LD titanium face driver.
How true is this? I thought 90% of today's drivers are titanium face. If so, all pro will go deaf liao.
Old news dated 15Jan2009. "Playing golf can 'damage hearing' Keen golfers are being warned by doctors that they could be risking their hearing for their sport.
Players who use a new generation of thin-faced titanium drivers to propel the ball further should consider wearing ear plugs, experts advise.
Ear specialists suspect the "sonic boom" the metal club head makes when it strikes the ball damaged the hearing of a 55-year-old golfer they treated.
They outline the details of this case in the British Medical Journal.
The man had been playing with a King Cobra LD titanium club three times a week for 18 months and commented that the noise of the club hitting the ball was "like a gun going off"."

| Well pilots underdo hearing test to monitor high and low frequency hearing losses. Most of them are golfers without problem.
I believe your genes play a part too. If you are going deaf, almost anything could trigger it. If not you can disco all the way beside the speakers with no hearing loss.

| I am sure cannot be as bad as turning ear-phones so loud that others can hear your thrash/death metal songs on the MRT or in a bus while standing a few metres away.
Or even the typical high decibel levels of discos or night clubs.

| singaporean are tougher, able to handle louder sound cause surrounding noise level is very high.....I use to go crazy in Australia at night cause its dead silent at night...no cars, no loud TV, no getai singers. Here even in the quietest neighborhood, still got the aircon noise (even with the quietest aircon, still got sound of the air blowing !!!).
But in a serious note, most asian dont swing at such a high speed, unlike in the US where 120 mph swing speed are more common and 250m drives are a dime a dozen (or as claimed in forums). lower speed = 'softer' impact sound.
my BigBertha460 very high pitch sound use to hurt my ears when i hit it flush. My wife also complain, now she prefer the lower sound of the 5900 Sumo, so much so she alway say "that one lousy hit leh " based on the sound (previously its always "wah hit so hard one")

| I used to think that that article was BS until one day, when practicing at MBGC range, I heard some guy next to me using an ONOFF driver. Every shot he hit hurt my ears. I have used over 50 drivers and never have I ever heard anything like this.
Just got my hands on an L4V with Diamana WB 63, hope it doesn't sound like that!
