Well actually, the scores can be calculated from the handicaps, provided all the kakis are honest in the handicap maintenance and declaration. Laughing This is the same for the ladies who tee off from red. The game has been designed with this in mind.

Yes, I agree on that count. Have seen my fair share of drivers at Par 3 holes.

Of course, you'll have to wear a skirt throughout the 18 holes then. Shocked Laughing Laughing

Sigh...I have to admit....I am one of those who occasionally used driver on par 3.....eg. in MBGC....one of those long par 3, I used driver and still short....very sorry.....I will tell my kakis next time that they can continue with blue, but I should play white.....

I don't know if this has been asked before but can a flight split between white and blue tees?

As I'm not a pro golfer like Chocoman, I would rather play off the white tees. I find I enjoy my game a lot more. Chocoman, on the other hand, believes that teeing off blue (or, if possible, the further the better, i.e. black/gold/luminous orange tees) would be best since he drives a mile and a half Smile j/k

You can split between Blue and White Tee players though not many people do it.

u r right, not many golfers do that maybe because of peer pressure or ego issues for some.
i feel that golfers shd tee off from the appropriate tee boxes. therefore male golfers w hc below 18 shd tee off fm blue.

However, blue tee in some courses such as Seletar, Horizon etc are too tough even for male golfers with hc below 18.

there is no problem if a flight choose to tee off fm both blue n white tee.

just out of curiousity....who has the bigger ego typically.....the golfer who played off blue and then return with >100 score.....or golfer who played off white but return with <100 score....(assuming both golfer same std) ??

maybe golf courses should have an announcer to announce the score at the clubhouse for every finishing flight......that will be ' fun'.....hahahahah

My take: Golfer who plays off white and comes in with 90 - 100 score is ok. Golfer who plays off Blue should come in with score of 90 and below since that would be where his handicap should be. There will be off days but consistently he would be at a level that he can play off Blue, in which case is for those with hcap below 18.

In the example that you have given, the golfer who played off blue but returned with >100 score should play at White instead. I believe he would enjoy the game more and be able to attack the greens in regulation, make more pars, gain confidence and improve in his game.

actually, a golfer whose handicap is 18 playing off the blue in most courses will turn in an avg score of above 96.

Playing 90 off the blue means your handicap is less than 18 due to the course and slope rating being higher.

Moreover, handicap 18 even on a standard course does not mean you will play to 90. It means that you have the potential to play to 90 and on a good day, once in a few games, you will play to it.

But i do agree that if you take many strokes and not reach the green while playing from blue, it is a very painful process to watch. Especially when you are stuck behind the flight.

Sunny, thanks for the info. I had always thought that white tees are for those with hcap >18 and the golfer would post a score of >90. Blue golfers will come in below <90 as they are more consistent in most aspects of their game.

Ultimately, the golfers will have to calculate their final scores based on their handicaps and the course rating. E.g. Player A plays off 16 and so tees off blue. Player B plays off 21 and tees off white. Both came in with 90. I would assume that Player A would lose since he did not play to his handicap while Player B outdid himself that time.

Ultimately, it's more impt to enjoy the golf game, be it white or blue tee. For me, I'll contend myself with white tee till I can play better on a consistent basis before moving on to blue tee. Thankfully, my regular khakis share the same sentiments hence our golf games are always great!

no no, I typically shoot 97, sometimes tai ko shoot 91, and on a course i am familar with, sometimes shoot 86. But usually 90+. What HCP does that make me?

13-15 handicapper is what i think. But best is to submit your cards to those online handicap calculator if you have no clubs to maintain. For calculating hdp, only your better scores are used
