| My worst nightmare:
High Greenside Bunker facing a Green that's got its up and down slopes and the course designer has the evil ingenuity of ensuring the hole is sitting on a down slope....
At least facing the Green with a lake in front, you can tell yourself, holding the 52 Wedge, "1 smack over the water and plop on the Green."

| Personally, there are many things that make a golf course difficult, e.g. narrow fairways guarded by trees or water, blind tee shots, etc etc
But if I had to pick one that really causes my game problems, it would be elevated greens protected by bunkers on all sides with steep runoff areas, and if water is present, the difficulty level increases. If the greens are firm, the difficult also increases.
For me, that means no real area to lay up to that will leave an easy running chip for Par or Bogey. Going long also no good as there may be bunkers behind or another steep slope to negotiate, which usually means awkward lie and more difficult distance control | |

| For me
#1) Deep Bunkers with hard sand
#2) narrow fairway with rolling and uneven terrain with guzzling strong wind
#3) small fast green
#4) Dog leg shape fairway with tall trees
#5) Tall rough grass where snake do exist
