Playing in sembawang as guest is only $90. One of the cheapest in Singapore with a new course and u still complain about the $ they charged and no service? Maybe my IPad camera didn't focus properly therefore the distance can't be seen properly. Sincerely apologies.

| I walk the course regularly and find that the terrain does post challenges in the game itself, not to mention the carefully positioned bunkers, waters, etc. Some game management would be required. Some info are available on the Tee box (e.g Hole 13, where you can try to drive to the open fairway or towards the green directly), so just check out the board before tee-ing off. My fav hole would be no 3 on the front and 18 on the back. Most importantly have fun and enjoy the game in SCC! | |

the club should display distance to water, bunker clearly. Then go hit the ball straight.
It is our famous Commando golf course. Yah Which course u play guarantee u won't lose ball? Go buy a range finder if u think the course doesn't provide u the distance. But even with the distance, u also go water and bunker. Executive course at Mandai ... U sure??? When u in bad luck, even on fairway also lost ball Maybe your ball plugged inside the soft fairway, huh? Or the monkeys picked your ball. Juz kiddin, bro ...

Played a charity event there last week. just for the fun of it.. tried going for the green w driver off the white tees on hole 13. ended up about 12' to a back pin but missed my eagle putt. keke
Although original thread was started 3 yrs ago. Slinger has a very good point. Not all holes require driver off the tee. course management is very important. Think ahead. Try to "lay up" to a comfortable distance for you approach shots.
I personally prefer to leave about 90-100m for my approach shots. therefore... i minus off 100m from the hole.. and if its anything more than 230m left or more.. then i'll use driver. I'll also tee off w 3w on most par 5's unless there's a chance for 2 on.
eg.. if i drive 240-250m with driver.. and 220m with my 3w.
Bro, you must be a strong hitter ... Maybe one day I should learn a thing or two from ya on how to drive a PAR 4 hole, huh? Turbo, I have no doubt he can! Really long hitter this chap! Anyway, I find that SCC is really a nice course to play after the reno and at a decent rate some more. No complaints whatsoever. I do not owe a distance finder device......usually relying on distance markers and course map to gauge distance to water hazards or whatever. Played twice at SCC.....No complaints whatsoever about the club thus far. Pace of game is nice and lots of thinking on tee box required as you gotta manage your landing area for a decent 2nd shot at most holes Nice place to golf, in summary! p.s. Thanks to those who have shared tips on playing this course. Keep it coming. That;s the kind of sharing we need here in the forum.

- For those who have yet to play the course..... (white tee)
Hole 1 (Par5): 428m white, 448m blue, dun be misled by this short par 5, fairway will narrow down from the 180m mark, thus the premium shots will be your 2nd n 3rd shot, if u are a long hitter (230m), dun really hit to hit driver, 3w will be ok as tee-box is elevated, if u going for 2 on, by all means use the big dog but will need to find fairway, short hitter (200m) u can use the driver, for your 2nd shot, u need to think which club to choose, fairway abt 12m wide n going uphill, with steep upslope on the left n steep downslope on the right, if your ball end there, good luck to your 3rd shot, your 3rd shot should be about a wedge to the green, the green is the smallest of the course, protected by left n right bunkers, back is a steep downhill slope, so choose the club correctly, green is flat, so putting is relatively easy..... 1st hole, try not to blow, dampens the spirit
Hole 2 (Par3): 128m white, 138m blue, hole is well elevated from the tee-box, need at least 1-2 club more depending on wind n pin position, bunker left n right of hole
Hole 3 (Par4): 283m white, 311m blue, short par 4, but left OB right forest, 3w off the tee (both white n blue) is good enough, left only a wedge distance to the green. Green protected by front left bunker n back right bunker, 2 tier green, so choose your wedge carefully
Hole 4 (Par5): 509m white, 527m blue, u can unleash the driver, but right is water hazard so aim left fairway, 2nd shot can be a 5w or hybrid to find your favorite distance, but fairway is undulating, make sure u make compensation, green sits on a plateau, with bunker right, flat green
Hole 5 (Par3): 143m white, 160m blue, green is 2 tier, green slope up from front to back, water hazard front of the green.
Hole 6 (Par4): 303m white, 327m blue, elevated tee box, with water hazard cutting through the fairway at about the 100m mark, 5w or hybrid (off white) will suffix depending on wind condition, left or right of fairway (tall trees) means no chance to attack the pin. Flat green protected by front left bunker. 1st shot is important, need to be dry n on the fairway.
Hole 7 (Par4): 321m white, 338m blue, fairway n green now is elevated from the tee-box, so u will be hitting uphill, wide fairway, but still need to avoid left n right hazard (trees), 2nd shot will be hitting onto elevated green, choose the right clubs, small flat green.
Hole 8 (Par4): 260m white, 273m blue, some call the road hole, cos road cut across the fairway, be bold n hit the driver but avoid the right rough, u will have no shot to the green (trees), try to aim center/left for easy shot to the green, usually a chip shot, front right bunker n back left bunker protect the green
Hole 9 (Par 4): 298m white, 313m blue, elevated tee-box, right is OB (driving range), left is longkang, 3w/5w will be ideal cos if driver block right, confirm OB, dun need the distance on this hole, play smart, find fairway from the tee-box, u will have a wedge shot to the green, front left bunker protect the green.
PS: SCC is a mature course, there will be trees flanking the fairways, although its a short course but miss fairway, u will pay the price, the rough is cowgrass, so it will trap your clubs, so make sure u up a club if hitting from the rough

Tks. I dun remember that there are any OB markers on the right side of the green. Will check n confirm next week when I play there again. Can anyone else affirm that?

| Hole 14 is now the long par 4, index 3. There is no OB on the right. But there are thick trees and bushed along the fence.. Usually lost ball if u hit into there | |

| Thanks guys. Reason I asked was because one of my flight mate hit the ball into the bushes on the right atop the green and claimed that there were red stakes and so take a penalty stroke instead of playing from where he should be playing or take a two penalty strokes for social game. I did not bother to verify but was sure that there are no red stakes there. Thanks for the inputs. Cheers. | |

| Last time I was playing there... The marshals told us that even your in the flower bed there is no free relief. U got play from where it is. Else there is a penalty. Not sure this is rule applies to their course only or other courses as well??
I remember for Marina flower bed is free relief. No penalty.

I remember for Marina flower bed is free relief. No penalty. To clear the misunderstanding, certain brown low bushes are marks with flower bed. Only a few are marked as flower bed yellow boards. The rest of those brown bushes are part of the course and play as it lies if u can find your ball inside them. Else, it is considered lost ball.
