For those who have yet to play the course..... (white tee)

Hole 1 (Par5): 428m white, 448m blue, dun be misled by this short par 5, fairway will narrow down from the 180m mark, thus the premium shots will be your 2nd n 3rd shot, if u are a long hitter (230m), dun really hit to hit driver, 3w will be ok as tee-box is elevated, if u going for 2 on, by all means use the big dog but will need to find fairway, short hitter (200m) u can use the driver, for your 2nd shot, u need to think which club to choose, fairway abt 12m wide n going uphill, with steep upslope on the left n steep downslope on the right, if your ball end there, good luck to your 3rd shot, your 3rd shot should be about a wedge to the green, the green is the smallest of the course, protected by left n right bunkers, back is a steep downhill slope, so choose the club correctly, green is flat, so putting is relatively easy..... 1st hole, try not to blow, dampens the spirit

Hole 2 (Par3): 128m white, 138m blue, hole is well elevated from the tee-box, need at least 1-2 club more depending on wind n pin position, bunker left n right of hole

Hole 3 (Par4): 283m white, 311m blue, short par 4, but left OB right forest, 3w off the tee (both white n blue) is good enough, left only a wedge distance to the green. Green protected by front left bunker n back right bunker, 2 tier green, so choose your wedge carefully

Hole 4 (Par5): 509m white, 527m blue, u can unleash the driver, but right is water hazard so aim left fairway, 2nd shot can be a 5w or hybrid to find your favorite distance, but fairway is undulating, make sure u make compensation, green sits on a plateau, with bunker right, flat green

Hole 5 (Par3): 143m white, 160m blue, green is 2 tier, green slope up from front to back, water hazard front of the green.

Hole 6 (Par4): 303m white, 327m blue, elevated tee box, with water hazard cutting through the fairway at about the 100m mark, 5w or hybrid (off white) will suffix depending on wind condition, left or right of fairway (tall trees) means no chance to attack the pin. Flat green protected by front left bunker. 1st shot is important, need to be dry n on the fairway.

Hole 7 (Par4): 321m white, 338m blue, fairway n green now is elevated from the tee-box, so u will be hitting uphill, wide fairway, but still need to avoid left n right hazard (trees), 2nd shot will be hitting onto elevated green, choose the right clubs, small flat green.

Hole 8 (Par4): 260m white, 273m blue, some call the road hole, cos road cut across the fairway, be bold n hit the driver but avoid the right rough, u will have no shot to the green (trees), try to aim center/left for easy shot to the green, usually a chip shot, front right bunker n back left bunker protect the green

Hole 9 (Par 4): 298m white, 313m blue, elevated tee-box, right is OB (driving range), left is longkang, 3w/5w will be ideal cos if driver block right, confirm OB, dun need the distance on this hole, play smart, find fairway from the tee-box, u will have a wedge shot to the green, front left bunker protect the green.

PS: SCC is a mature course, there will be trees flanking the fairways, although its a short course but miss fairway, u will pay the price, the rough is cowgrass, so it will trap your clubs, so make sure u up a club if hitting from the rough

Hole 10 (Par4): 299m white, 313 blue, dog-leg left, hazard flanking the right fairway at the turn, left OB, elevated tee-box so 3w would be ideal, cos if driver block right, confirm will end up at the right hazard, will be left with short irons to the green cos u will be hitting uphill to a elevated green, play smart for short par 4, cos course designers not stupid to let you cheong the short holes...

Hole 11 (Par4): 365m white, 383m blue, long par 4, dog-leg left, water hazard cut through the fairway at the 100m mark, need to use driver but left hazard (trees) n bunker right of fairway, long hitter will left with short irons to the green (huge flat green), however for short hitters, suggest u lay up to your favorite distance before the water hazard, afterall this is an index hole, bogey is a good score, remember that

Hole 12 (Par 4): 293m white, 319m blue, straight forward hole, will be hitting uphill, left trees aplenty n right OB, driver or 3w, just find fairway, u would be able to see the green but the green is 2 tier (front slope up to back), usually white n blue pin on the upper tier

Hole 13 (Par3): 125m white, 140m blue, water protects the front of the green, make sure u have enough clubs, bunker right as well

Hole 14 (Par5): 450m white, 484m blue, straight hole but u will be hitting uphill from the tee-box, OB right, left/center fairway is good, drive the buggy up to see how to hit the 2nd shot, trees aplenty left n right of fairway, so take aim center of fairway with hybrid/long irons to your favorite distance for the 3rd, green is flat n easy

Hole 15 (Par5): 534m white, 554m blue, the so-call TV hole, cos u need to watch the TV screen to ensure the front flight clear before u tee-off, will be hitting slight uphill from the tee-box, need to fade/cut the shot if using driver cos tall trees lined the left n right fairways, a straight 3w shot will be good, follow by 5w with your 2nd will bring u close to the 100-120m mark, u will be hitting your 2nd shot downhill, so dun use too much clubs cos there is water hazard right protecting the green from the cheongsters, with the fairway narrow down to about 5-6m after the 100 mark, anything right or behind the green will be lost, green is flat.

Hole 16 (Par4): 301m white, 335m blue, huge fairway but will be hitting uphill from the tee-box again, straight hole, trees lined the left fairway, need to pick the right clubs to go for the green, about 1-2 clubs up, green is flat.

Hole 17 (Par4): 266m white, 282m blue, do not use driver unless u hit abt 180m, 5w or hybrid is ideal cos the ball will sit pretty on the fairway, too much club n u will be left with an arkward lie (ball below feet), in addition, water hazard cut through the fairway (30m mark) with long lalang flanked the left fairway n water hazard on the right, u might not see all these hazards from the tee-box, but trust me the hazards are there, play smart again, short par 4, dun be gung-ho, u will still be left with a wedge shot to the green if u play right

Hole 18 (Par3): 175m white, 190m blue, long par 3, left got trees from tee-box to green, right is a deep valley if your tee-shot miss the green, just go straight for the hole

PS: JUST PLAY SMART

Don't mind me adding additional info, as it is my morning playground every sat, sun and PH.

1st hole, try not to blow, dampens the spirit (My strategy for this hole is tee off to comfortable distance that you can put the 2nd shot at 100m, 100m is good as it the place that you can see from the 200M+ fairway. Do note that left of fairway from 200m is a slop and any ball goes there chances of losing it is high, so aim slight left of fairway is good. At 100m area, be careful of hitting beyond the green, as the area behind the green is slop and forest)

Hole 2 (Par3): 128m white, 138m blue, hole is well elevated from the tee-box, need at least 1-2 club more depending on wind n pin position, bunker left n right of hole. (I up 1 club for this hole, as if hit it well it will be pin high, miss hit is short of green, anything longer have potential of lost ball behind green or hitting Golfer tee off at Hole 9. Green is undulating and slopping from back left to front right. )

Hole 3 (Par4): 283m white, 311m blue, short par 4, but left OB right forest, 3w off the tee (both white n blue) is good enough, left only a wedge distance to the green. Green protected by front left bunker n back right bunker, 2 tier green, so choose your wedge carefully (Elevated Tee-Box, depending on the confidence of 3W and Driver, there is option to tee off with Iron that can go 140m, this will put you in good lie to either go for green with abt 160m. If one choose to tee off with 3W/Driver and cross the water hazard, the green became slightly elevated.)

Hole 4 (Par5): 509m white, 527m blue, u can unleash the driver, but right is water hazard so aim left fairway, 2nd shot can be a 5w or hybrid to find your favorite distance, but fairway is undulating, make sure u make compensation, green sits on a plateau, with bunker right, flat green (Fairway is undulating from 200m mark to 100m mark, the fairway is flat on the right 3/4 and slop to the left on the left quarter. Bunker to the Left front, right and back of Green. )

Hole 5 (Par3): 143m white, 160m blue, green is 2 tier, green slope up from front to back, water hazard front of the green. (Water hazard to the left half of fairway, right has roll of trees and OB, This set up will have mental effect for golfer to pull towards the left. Bunker to the left and right of 1 tier of green. )

( The objective for the tee off is to have to ball land at 90m to 110m mark, else the lie is downward lie. Slice to left can still be good if it go beyond the roll of tree and borrowed fairway from Hole 7, there is still clear light of sight to attack. Bunker left front and back of flat Green)

(There is a flat zone on the fairway around the 145m to 130m, add 1 club for second shot. Bunker to the front right of Green )

Hole 8 (Par4): 260m white, 273m blue, some call the road hole, cos road cut across the fairway, be bold n hit the driver but avoid the right rough, u will have no shot to the green (trees), try to aim center/left for easy shot to the green, usually a chip shot, front right bunker n back left bunker protect the green (Fairway bunker to the left at abt 100m. Bunker left and right front and back of Green, the green is narrow front to back and slop that way, it is long left to right and right is higher. )

(Fairway bunker on the right abt 120m mark, long hook/draw to fairway of hole 1 is actually a good second shot approach. Green is tier left right. Right is higher and quite flat, left is sloping from right to left )

(Fairway is slop down to 140 with only a small flat zone and then slop up to green. The safest play is to tee off with club carry 200m, then the possibility of hitting beyond the fence OB on the right is removed. Green slop to left front.)

Hole 11 (Par4): 365m white, 383m blue, long par 4, dog-leg left, water hazard cut through the fairway at the 100m mark, need to use driver but left hazard (trees) n bunker right of fairway, long hitter will left with short irons to the green (huge flat green), however for short hitters, suggest u lay up to your favorite distance before the water hazard, afterall this is an index hole, bogey is a good score, remember that. (Tee box is elevated. Fairway bunker to the left and right at abt 150m mark, it somewhat the distance where ppl with land the ball. Fairway sloppy from 90 to 130m, and the green is lower, so have to minus 1 club. however, the large water harzard between fairway and green played with ppl's mind. Green is huge and has bunker to the left and right back of green. Green slop Back to front)

Hole 12 (Par 4): 293m white, 319m blue, straight forward hole, will be hitting uphill, left trees aplenty n right OB, driver or 3w, just find fairway, u would be able to see the green but the green is 2 tier (front slope up to back), usually white n blue pin on the upper tier (Left of fairway slop into tree line and have to view of green, to avoid OB, player will pulled left. )

Hole 13 (Par3): 125m white, 140m blue, water protects the front of the green, make sure u have enough clubs, bunker right as well ( Green quite large, but 2 tier and the tie break is curve and not straight, so ball landed left with pin back right, will right putting the ball to the lower tie)

Hole 13A (Par3): 116m white, 135m blue, elevate tee box. Water surrounding the Green except the linkpath from cart path to green. Green slop from back to front. Bunker to the left of Green. Ball landed in the flower bed surounding the Green is consider
ed as hazard.

Hole 14 (Par5): 450m white, 484m blue, straight hole but u will be hitting uphill from the tee-box, OB right, left/center fairway is good, drive the buggy up to see how to hit the 2nd shot, trees aplenty left n right of fairway, so take aim center of fairway with hybrid/long irons to your favorite distance for the 3rd, green is flat n easy (Fairway is flat from 260 to 200m, before is slopping up and after is slopping down to green. 2nd shot take a club less and Green is lower, bunker to the right front of Green and Green is very sloppy from right back to left front )

(Right fairway has two row of tree line, the outer right tree is OB. 2nd shot will be downward lie, pose a potential slice to the right OB, aim slight left to about 130m. Fairway level from 130m. Front left of green bunker and left of green has a 0.5m hump of about 5m length <still can't figure out why that hump>)

Hole 16 (Par4): 301m white, 335m blue, huge fairway but will be hitting uphill from the tee-box again, straight hole, trees lined the left fairway, need to pick the right clubs to go for the green, about 1-2 clubs up, green is flat. (Approach for 2nd shot is to add 2 club, somehow add 1 club will be short of green. Bunker to the front left of green. Green Slop left to right on the left half of Green. )

Hole 17 (Par4): 266m white, 282m blue, do not use driver unless u hit abt 180m, 5w or hybrid is ideal cos the ball will sit pretty on the fairway, too much club n u will be left with an arkward lie (ball below feet), in addition, water hazard cut through the fairway (30m mark) with long lalang flanked the left fairway n water hazard on the right, u might not see all these hazards from the tee-box, but trust me the hazards are there, play smart again, short par 4, dun be gung-ho, u will still be left with a wedge shot to the green if u play right. (My play is always aim left of fairway to 150-130m mark, as this is the flat lie of the fairway, else it slop left to right and certain part will be block by trees. 2nd approach can drop 1 club as Green is lower. Bunker to the front of Green and water hazard to the left of Green. Green undulating)

Hole 18 (Par3): 175m white, 190m blue, long par 3, left got trees from tee-box to green, right is a deep valley if your tee-shot miss the green, just go straight for the hole (Left OB from about bunker onwards. Green is lower, concave, center high slop to front and slop to back.)

Hope the enhancement can provide better know of this commando cse. And during wet seasons, embedded ball is common. Also need to watch out for monkey when u park the buggie at tee box 12, Green side 11, 13, the monkey will take you water bottle, handphone, banana.....

For those walking the cse, better have trolley and try 9 hole first. I tried 18 hole walking with trolley once, and it is very tiring.

Have fun in the first self build golf cse.

Am going for the Master game in Chiang Mai with the 12 monkeys/ ocean 12 in 2 days time, ya hoo....

Sounds like a fun course. I need to take my handicap courtesy round there in late January so anyone with course experience want to join me for a round or two so I can get to know it?

Bro Slinger - just located your great write up about Sembawang. I think this was before the renovation. Does the new course play the same as your write up? Thanks.

Sorry (especially to bro HKAMATEUR) for bringing up an old thread, but the writeup by bro slinger and update by bro loudmouth were fantastic. I am playing my 1st game there next week with some friends and I wanted to have a feel of the course first. It will be great if anyone who has played there regularly since the reno can update the writeup. Thanks in advance.
