| Hi there I currently play with a set of fishy sticks wich I love. The longest iron I have is a 6 iron. I bought the set when new to golf and so didn't bother to buy anything longer. My next club up is a Callaway XHot hybrid 3 (19 degrees). Now I am finding that I need something between the 6i and the hybrid. So my question is what would this club be? Should I buy a 5i or another hybrid to fit in between. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
By the way, I now live in Cairo and to the best of knowledge these are the only BFG irons in Egypt. I will be visiting Singapore in June so can buy a BFG 5i when I visit, if that is the decision I take. Cheers

| I think a 5i from BFG would be better. | |

| Depending on how confident you are currently with your irons. I have 5-pw but seldom use my #5 iron. So I opt for utilities woods. Go with what you are best comfortable wtih to put your ball to the distance you want your shots to be. There are driving range here in Singapore and they do have demo irons or utitlies that you can borrow and just try. | |

| Hmmm.... it depends.... if you are a good iron player, buy some more forgiving long irons.... if you are the hybrid type, buy a 4 and 5 hybrid....
If you ask me, I bag Driver, 3 wood, 2 to PW.... works best for me.

If you hit it pretty well OR feel confident over it, then natural progression is the 5i. If not, perhaps a hybrid in 24 or 25 deg might be a good choice. Food for thought ... 1 single 5i is not expensive. A used 24-25 hybrid (at most need to change to an old light steel shaft if you prefer the feel of steel shafts) is also pretty cheap (no need for latest and newest). Since you are travelling all the way here, when not get both?

| Thank you all for your thoughts and my condolences to Singapore on the passing of LKY. What is the benefit of a hybrid over an iron? Why would someone chose say a 24 deg hybrid over a 5i? When I hit the 6i properly, I hit it quite well. So maybe a 5i would be fine. Obviously the best thing to do is to try them both and see how i get on.
On a side note; here in Egypt, the cost of 18 holes here on a beautiful course with the use of a buggy is about SGD 55 for 18 holes. However... the cost of a sleeve of 3 balls is SGD 45!
Here is the course; http://goo.gl/maps/yzgbQ

| Lol
Seems like apart from either a 5i or a hybrid (or both), you should stock up on golf balls when you come to Singapore!

| Don't worry. I shall visit Far East Shopping Centre and buy up all the second hand balls I can carry. Just looked in detail at the google map of the golf course we play on. The image certainly does not show you how hilly this course is. Guess thats kinda hard to show from a picture taken from space! | |
