| Hi all
Anyone has experience playing a 3w with length of 44"?
Standard length is 43"
Wanna have more distance off the fairway for the par 5s andlong par 4s
Many thanks | |

| Personally I think it's a bad idea...unless u r a 5hcp or better
U'll prob gain more distance by going to a shorter (42.5 or 42 inch) and slightly heavier shaft.
We gain more distance from striking the ball more purely with a shorter shaft
But of course this would not apply if u r a low hcp golfer who is able to consistently pure a 3 wood on a longer shaft

| My 3 wood is 43" and the distance is shorter than 4i. Maybe not a wise idea to play 3 wood. Just my thought. | |

Maybe not a wise idea to play 3 wood. Just my thought. ChrisD Why do u need a 3w when your 4i already 200m ?? Too long will go into bunkers one you know....

| Andrew@
Maybe u shld try a 42" shaft instead on a 3w head.
I tried using a 5w head with 40.5" shaft and I can reach 190m off the tee. With ur swing, it shld reach 200m easy.

| My 5w is 42.5"
Coz my ball flight is a left to right fader
My 3w max off the fairway is 190m
Hope to breach to 200m with a slightly longer shaft with the same left to right
Jus that never try a 44" or a 43.5" shaft on a 14 deg before
That's why wanna ask for feedback
Got this idea from bird man when I bumped into him last year

| if too many golf games have taught me anything.... it's this
dun chase distance..... rather chase consistency
if u are 7/10 ball straight straight..... then work towards 9/10
there is this wise saying in GR, u shd know
not scared u hit far....... only scared u more zhun

| Good advice Slinger.
Was talking to Birdman a few days ago when he asked me about my thoughts on cutting a driver shaft down to 3 wood length.
IMHO, no point being able to hit 200m accurately 2-3 times out of 10 attempts when you can hit 190m 9/10 times and chip near. During the game of golf, you only have 1 shot....unlike driving range.
Slinger, when you want to show me your zhun? it's been a while since we last played.....:-P

| How about keeping the shaft length you are comfortable with, paired with a stronger 3W head? If you are on a 14 degree head then maybe 13 or 13.5 degrees may fit the bill - there are many such Phrankenwoods around. This way you won't sacrifice your ball-striking consistency, and will at most have a bit more dispersion for the added distance. | |
