| We are going to play at Spring City in Kunming and also going to Lijiang for the long courses:). Did anyone play there lately? We are going before Thanksgiving (27th), concern that it could be a bit cold. | |

Was there recently.... Winter coming so temp a bit eratic and really cold ... Esp in morning temp can be about 5 deg. Prep yourselves with warm clothing and also suggest a windbreaker ...occassionally light passing showers.. Mountain and lake course really nice and green speed about 12.4 ....really fast..... Oh yes...bring enough balls

| Thanks for the info. I played there some years back and the green felt like mirror flat to me... | |

| Yes, in the morning it is a bit cold. But if you stay at the Resort, enjoy the breakfast , warm up in the toilet, go to the tee box at 9am ...... the sun should be warming up the ground.. take a slow walking round .. stop for lunch and U still can finish the game rain or shine.
Go for a good rub down, 6/7 pm dinner with some wine (red or cina white) Early to bed, good rest and tomoro will be another good game.

| I was there in April last year. Agree with Uncle P that it is very cold in the morning but as the day progresses, the weather gets better. The resort has a very friendly chinese chef who is from Malaysia. He obliged our group's request to prepare rice porridge with nice side dishes for one of our dinner session there. It was nice to have something different from the usual ala carte stuff. Good breakfast selection as well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. While we were there, we were informed that some new nearby golf courses were about to open. Do check these out as well. But do call ahead to check the golf course's condition. We encountered greens that were just hollow tined and it was frustrating putting on the very sandy surface. Wish you a great time! | |

Hi, we have 4-ball and play 3 rounds (1 round for free) at Spring City and another 2 rounds in Lijiang. It costs 7500rmb inclusive of lodging, but excluding air travel.

| You can try Stone Forest, nice course with breath taking views. Do note that it will be cold at this time of the year..and watch the UV and use sunscreen because of the high altitude. | |

| An update to share...
We made the trip as planned. Overall impression is that it's cold but quite an unforgettable experience. Started at Lake course of Spring City, we immediately were intimidated by the narrow fairway of hole #1. It's a far 5, but my 3 iron was a good choice, as I put the ball in the centre unlike my kakis:). The green is even more challenging. Speed 12.4, that disrupted my game completely, as I couldn't chip near the green, average 3.5 putts in the first 9 holes. With wind blowing at 2 clubs, I suffered the first game there in the arriving afternoon. Next morning we played Mountain course, which is actually in better condition. I got back into the game. Green still fast at 12, but weather seemed warmer, and wind blew less. Afternoon we played another (free) round at Lake Course again. After the game, we went out to a nearby farmer restaurant. With quality food but reasonable price.
After finishing the games at Spring City, we took a morning flight to Lijiang. Upon arriving at the Jade Dragon course, couple of us realised it's too cold to play with our normal gear. So we bought a set of thermal innerware. How correct that decision was...despite the blowing wind and hard to predict distance, I handled well. One of my kakis, with a single layer of pant, lost to the cold completely. So if you guys go there in cold weather, take this tip. The course is very memorable. Sitting in front of a snow mountain, it provides a surreal feeling, especially in the cold, seeing the snow on top of the mountain, and here we are playing golf on green. On the promised long drive, I didn't particularly feel it, as I had to use an X shaft club for the game because my normal one was damaged just before the trip, unfortunately.
The final day we were a bit rush to play at Lakefront, arrived before the course was open. Because of cold, it only opens at 8.30am. This is an average course. In summer it might be looking better. But after all the fast greens, this one comes back to reality, just like ours here, around 8. Nothing special, after the game, it's perfect timing to head the airport to catch flights back.
Kunming has a new airport. China Eastern has a tedious but perfect flight for golfers - arriving Kunming 7.30am, and departing 10.50pm.
