| Am going to spend 1 week in early April in Kunming (4 nights in Spring City Resort and 2 nights in Kunming City) to golf! My first visit there. Apart from golfing, what else is considered "must do/see" there? Would welcome suggestions. Thanks. | |

| Bro, I was there 2 years ago. Not much special except to experience the ancient city and if you are a nature lover like me, then there is the glacier and the stock fishing and the asparina to buy.
May I ask if you are going by group tour and how much it cost? Do you have a slot as I am itchy to golf there, the only place in China I am willing to go back having played more tham 50 courses in China.
If you drink, do be careful and not get cheated by the locals. The bill can be rediculous. same applies to the massage. If you can stay a night at Jade Dragon, it is an amazing experience with the native dances.

| Mulligan : Thanks for the nice pic. Can't wait to get there!
Pakleow : Am going with a group of golfers arranged by friend of a friend. Already 8 of us so its full. Thanks for the warning and all. If its the Lijiang Jade Dragon you are referring to, then I am afraid we will be giving this a miss due to time constraints. Understand we will cover Spring City and Stone Forest. Am on my own for the remaining 2 days in Kunming City. Any must play course near the city that I should get to?

Slash, I dont drive 200 and play like I use to so I dont think you all want to go and play with me - old man now. I enjoy nature and 19 holers will disagree with me. Dont want to spoil the young fun there...just enjoying my twilight time

| Yes, and we should take time to play and enjot the surroundings. I see too many of us here are always on the rush, scope only on ball and course and miss the beauty each course is enclosed with.
Enjoy the fresh air of the glacier - including the oxygen if you get too excited and too rush, the smell of the flowers, the ginger and red dates drink that is provided. Its really part of the price you paid. I ask many in my groups, how many remember what the glacier air smells like, I dont think anyone remember. I ask how many remember what the grass feels like, a few remember - yes its very differnt from the nermuda we play in. How many remember the environment less the Glacier? Well, I guess no one did spend time to enjoy the environment but all hit some balls, so sometimes we ask, why play there? I guess some just want to go there, but its good to enjoy and make the money worth - afterall its not cheap leh.

| Talk about oxygen, there are bottled oxygen for sale too, as the altitude is very high. Remember not to push yourself too hard cos you run out of breath easily. Play an easy game and enjoy! | |

| If you are going to play golf in Kunming, try to schedule to go LiJiang for golf.
Very nice ancient city to visit at night.
Must play a round of golf at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, enjoy the view.
Remember not to miss the grand outdoor culture show by the famous Chinese Director

| Lijiang is pretty far from kunming, you need to fly there. Is best you do your booking with the local agent including transportation. The course is 40 mins from the city. Walk in rates is around rmb 580/game. For hard hitter it's truly a great experience the ball kept flying n flying. If its not any major Chinese public holiday the courses is pretty much empty. Must also try the bar street in the evening. Local hotel is cheap but breakfast sucks. Better off stopping by the street for fresh meat pao on your way to the club. Only set back the place could get foggy n they close the airport. The last time I went there, I took Sin-Chengdu-lijiang route. My friend took Sin-Shanghai-Lijiang. Our flt landed 1 hr ahead of him but due to fog they closed the airport for 2 days after we landed. His flt was diverted to Chongqing and ended up spending 2 nights at Chongqing. | |

| Been trying to locate the email address for Kunming Lakeview Golf Club. The English version of their website www.lakeview.cn does not seem to work. Anybody able to help? Or provide me with email contact for any local golf agent there whom I can check with? Assistance is much appreciated. Am travelling alone to Kunming City and looking to enjoy a round there. Cheers! | |
