Buying from EBAY Empty
PostSubject: Buying from EBAY   Buying from EBAY I_icon_minitimeFri Oct 17, 2014 10:08 am

Hi all,

is there anyone purchase clubs or golf related from ebay and deliver to Singapore?

If yes, could you please let me know how much the cost for customs, etc (excluded the shipping cost from seller)?

which one do you think more valuable, buying from local or from ebay? I am talking about the used clubs.

Appreciate for any reply.

thanks.

No tax if the purchase is below S$400.
This includes, shipping, insurance and whatever cost might might apply.

Once more than S$400, the whole amount is subjected to 7$ GST.

i've purchase from globalgolf a couple of times and they are fairly prominent on ebay. You can buy from their website directly sometimes slightly cheaper too. Their ebya listing are all available in their website too.

For used clubs, they worked out mostly cheaper than buying in SIngapore, e.g. I bought TM mini driver from them and another club and combined they're cheaper than buying used in SIngapore. More so because I get the loft and condition I want and not have to wait for something to crop up on the marketplace here.

Buying used clubs online is always a gamble. You can't really tell the condition from pictures.

GST is chargeable for amounts more than S$400. but sometimes they overlook. you can always try to ask the seller to label the package as "GIFT" then won't be taxed. however, if you're getting from an ebay store, most of them will not be willing to do that.

Generally shipping should cost between US$40-50. Most ebay sellers should list their shipping charges on their auction listing. For those who dun ship international, i suggest use Comgateway forwarding svc.

Combine shipping whenever possible, will save alot this way.

Happy shopping.

Do be wary of counterfeit products on eBay...they are quite common with some particular brands / makes (eg Scotty Camerons and Vokeys).

If the deal sounds too good to be true...think and think again!

I just bought a pre-owned Titleist 913D2 w/Diamana shaft which appears to be in great condition from the few photos shown (keeping my fingers crossed) ... It only cost me US$170 plus International Priority Service courier (USPS) US$21 to Singapore. Total damage is US$191 via PayPal. The exchange rate via PayPal is not very attractive and also currently the greenback has appreciated against SGD. If purchase from the 2nd hand shops in FESC, this pre-owned 913D2 driver would easily cost S$350 to 390. Brand new in Sg is S$450 to 470 depending where you buy from.

One thing to lookout for when buying is to check the reputation of the seller. eBay is backed by eBay money backed guarantee.

I read that Vpost does not ship eBay goods per their notice on the website. But if ship directly from a 3rd party who sells their stuff in eBay, maybe Vpost would still accept.

U have any experience on that with Vpost?

Global golf is great for used clubs as they have a rating system for the used clubs they sell.

I have bought clubs in "mint" condition and they are as good as new. I have also bought clubs categorized under "excellent" and the clubs look awesome, barely been hit kind of condition. Lowest I would ever go would be "very good" condition as one club I bought has a small chip on the crown. Not noticeable but still irked me.

Hi, yes. Vpost lost my items twice and terrible customer service. Hence I move to Comgateway. Service is top notch n items r traceable all the way. Delivers via DHL or FedEx. U can Google for reviews on Vpost too.

From experience, i like 3balls better than globalgolf. The items n shipping rate is cheaper n condition of item is always better than they claim. With 3balls, u can combine items from their website together wif ebay items. Globalgolf do not allow. My 2cents but do try for yrself to see which is better.

Cheers...

you should be able to get ebay to send the vpost warehouse and ship back from there.

have used vpost to ship clubs back from ebay before - did not have any issues.

OK ... But strangely Vpost website indicated a list of Merchant restriction ... eBay is in that list ... Not sure why ... If for Nike Inc. or Puma USA, I can see why as they are protecting the interest of their local agents or regional shops as Nike & Puma in USA are selling a lot cheaper than in Singapore ...

So far my experience with Vpost was ok ... I have recently bought JL apparels from Fairwaystyle and Trendygolf and have my merchandises shipped to Sg via Vpost ... I like this arrangement because I put up alone in my apartment and I am not at home during office hours. Hence, I can pick up the parcel at the nearest Post Office at my leisure ...

Is comgateway pricing on par with Vpost? I think Vpost pricing is very reasonable and definitely much cheaper than Fedex, UPS or DHL ...

Citibank card holders should always use vpost - there seems to be an evergreen 20% off vpost coupon code.

Usually seller from eBay will ship merchandise to the address declared in PayPal. How do you guys overcome that if u wanna ship to Vpost warehouse in Oregon, US?

Save yr forwarding company's address in yr ebay address list. Upon payment, u can choose which address u want to send to.

Yeah, I think PayPal also can save billing address. Due to they different tax rates. Portland tax free iirc.

Thanks guys for the advices ... It would be great if PayPal also allows saving of multiple addresses. But I don't see it is possible for PayPal. Let me verify later ... I've just saved Vpost address in my profile within eBay ...

I bought a Titleist 913D2 driver last week but I let the seller shipped to my Sg address directly as the quoted price via International Priority Shipping at US$21.50 is reasonable. Vpost would be about the same too ... I believe International Priority Shipping is from USPS and it is a special arrangement with local mail service providers & eBay. In this case, USPS will hand over the parcel to Singapore Post to do the necessary once it reaches Sg ...

Some Sellers from eBay quoted international shipping fee for a FW or driver at US$78 ++ ... Shocked

The one I bought is pre-owned but in great condition ... Almost like used for 2 - 3 rounds only ... I paid US$170 (plus $21.50 international shipping to Sg) thru an auction in eBay.  If you wanna buy brand new from eBay, it should be around US$240 onwards. In Sg, the cheapest brand new 913D2/D3 is S$429. This is because the latest 915D is coming on board very soon ...

You could still find pre-owned 913D2/D3 prolly from Golf Partner @ FESC ... But they are selling high at S$350 ++ onwards if I am not wrong ... There is none in Golf Simply. Not sure if Creative Joe, Vinc Sport and Greenfield still have pre-owned 913D ...

Hi all,

thank you for your tremendous and informative reply to this thread.

I've just changed my shipping address, different with my billing address on paypal. Will see whether the seller willing to send the item to the shipping address or not. But hopefully yes, otherwise, i will need to cancel the purchasing process due to huge import tax.

There is no import duty as golf equipment is zero rated in Singapore. However, if the merchandise is valued at $400 or more, you will be subjected to 7% GST.
