A woman burst her eardrum by holding in a sneeze at a wedding ceremony in Nanjing, in East China's Jiangsu province during the National Day holiday, the Yangtze Evening Post reported on Friday.
The woman, surnamed Chen, pinched her nose to prevent sneezing while serving as a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding ceremony, for fear of losing face.
She attended hospital later that night due to extreme pain in her ear.

A medical examination revealed that she had suffered a perforated eardrum.
