| Some pro told me that the greens must be in the right condition: fast enough and soft enough. Singapore greens tend to be slower and difficult to get the ball to spin back. | |

| It is a matter of the type of ball used (e.g. ProV1x), golfer skill (i.e. high speed and ability to cut the space between the area where the ball contact the turf) and the green condition (i.e. fast and soft green) is in almost ideal condition ... | |

| Someone ever mention to me that if you want the ball to back spin on green, the ball needs at least 12,000rpm. I can only achieve 7,000rpm on my 56/14 SW. Still very far away from getting a backspin... Then again, to achieve better distance on your Driver, you got to keep your spin rate at <2,500rpm. If you can achieve 12,000rpm on your SW, you may also lose distance on your SW... Hum.... | |

But then again, isn't the driver spin rate and sw spinning different? This one quite cheem...

| Ball hit the slope on the green and roll back down considered as spin back?????
jokes aside, I have only managed to get the ball to land and bounce forward at best 2-3ft from the pitch mark which is more than good enough for me considering how bad my golf is....

| May or may not be happy with the spin back.
If kena red pin...ball lands near pin and spins out of the green. You will be cursing.
Anyway for the spin rate numbers, can always get it from trackman. Mine for sand wedge ranges from 9000 to 10500. Good enough for stopping and at times, depending on green, spin back too.

| Speaking for myself, never seen it roll back before. But at JCC executive course hole 2, tee with a 8i, saw my ball drop and stop. Then when reach the green to repair my pitch mark, saw the ball is behind the pitch mark by about half a feet. Trackman says my 7i with nspro shaft is in excess of 8000rpm spin. Losing distance according to Atiq. | |

Of course the spin rate generated by a wedge is different from a driver even if the golfer "could" hit both clubs at the same speed ... The reasons are because a wedge has more loft, have deep grooves, shaft & head materials are different and the AoA of a wedge is very negative ...
