While in Florence, take a day trip and explore medieval towns like Siena.
In Venice, you should see Murano & Burano too.
I wouldnt spend much time in Milan though (nothing much to me other than branded goods shopping) although the missus may disagree. Smile

I was there eons ago, cant recall.
Best to check hotels.com.
Stay at the boutique hotels, they are quite well run and serve good continental breakfast.
In Venice, the rooms can be pricey and small.
But you can stay on the mainland with bigger rooms and take a bus in.

Generally in Italy, just be careful at the train terminals and the areas near it as there are pickpockets. Esp in Rome.

For Rome, try Sheraton Parco di merci hotel. It has a 18 hole championship course available n the rooms are comfy. Stayed n played there last Dec n course was not easy with the early winter winds.

They also have shuttle buses that run to n fro to city n train stations.
