Tried my 8.5, find it hard to launch the ball and hit well.
Probably going back to 9.5

I was under the impression that the lower loft driver will have lower launch and more run. Recently, I set my rbz driver from 9.5 to 11 deg loft because I was struggling with the big dog. To my surprise, the launch is no higher and it actually has more run. Distance is no worse. Any one else with similar experience or has a logical explanation for my experience?

Hello! I use TM R9 9.5 loft. Previously TM Burner 10.5. Personally felt that i have better control with the 9.5 loft but then again.. it might just be psychological.. hahah

It will be interesting if you measure the true loft of your drivers. I wouldn't be surprise if some of the actual loft is higher than the loft stated by the manufacturer.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought lower loft does not mean the ball will travel longer distance. Higher loft = longer distance. scratch

There is an ideal launch angle for ball to travel high and longer distance (of course there are other factors like spin rate, angle of attack, clubhead speed, impact factor, etc). The loft on driver is to assist you along with your swing to achieve that ideal launch angle. Some need 8.5, some need 9.5 while others 10.5 or higher, you may try with Track man to see your launch angle with different driver head using same shaft.

What's important is the right loft to achieve optimum carry and roll for the total distance.

Note that carry is ultimately what determines if one is able to cross the water or not, not total distance.

The very same reason for the advice to take one club more whenever there is trouble in front.

A teaching Pro took his 3 new students to their first ever tee off. First guy sliced it into water hazard, he turned and looked at the Pro, who simply said : LOFT!

Second guy hooked it into OB, and the Pro gave his comment : LOFT!

Third guy hit it straight, but topped it. Again the Pro said : LOFT!

The 3 students looked at the Pro in bewilderment : left, right, centre also you say LOFT! What you mean by LOFT?

The Pro said as he walked away : LOFT..........Lack Of Fxxking Talent!

Loft between 9.5 to 10.5 is not much different. Do not expect you will get additional 10m or more if you adjust the loft. DO not expect 10.5 can hit higher than 9.5 either. The real distance is come from angle of attack (hot spot) and your driver should hit the ball when the head launching up from your swing (ball on left foot). if you hit the angle properly, your ball will flight with lower spin rate, and with good impact factor. your ball should landed and roll for few meters.

you can have better or easy attack angle if you adjust your loft at 10.5 compare to 9.5.

Just my 1cents knowledge. Thanks.

On the same driver and shaft, I hit 10.5 better than 9.5.
