| Go sign up for lesson. Confirm can hit the 5i.
I suggest that cos G series is very good and should not have issue with 5i.

The person who knows your game well enough to give you advice on whether you need a lob wedge or not is your coach. If you have been taking lessons, he or she has most probably looked through your setup and if he has no comment so far on that part, most likely that is not where the main concern lies...talk to your coach, just my 2 cents worth...happy golfing

| I'm not using 5i and I play a 5 hybrid I'm also taking lessons every now and then (specifically going thru lessons now)
Today's modern iron sets are all very strong in lofts a 5i today has a loft of 4i when I started playing about 10 years ago
I find my 5 hybrid is much easier to use and my hit rate is far more successful with it than a 5i
there are quite a few of my kakis who are in the low teens hcp who plays a 5 hybrid
my point is, there is no right or wrong, many ways to skin a cat. Do what is best for your game
lob wedge is not easy to use if you are a beginner. I use a 58 degree wedge. That's as close to a lob wedge in my bag and it's a life saver from bunker or short chips with little green to work with.
Again, everyone is different. Experiment and see what works for you. It's a journey, enjoy the process

| I used to have problems to hit 5 iron so added a 5 hybrid to my bag. However, I realized that 5 hybrid hit further than my 5 iron so I have a gap. After some free tips from my son's coach, I decided to try to use my 5 iron again and it works. now I dumped my 3 wood to accommodate 5 hybrid as I also have a 5 wood n 60 deg lob wedge in my bag so already reach max 14 clubs. my game focus more on short game so lob wedge is more important to me n I find thatits not easy to hit a good shot with my 3 wood on fairway.
from this experience, I think u shd go for lessons so that u can use 5 iron bcos 5 hyrid is not equal to 5 iron. lob wedge also need very precise contact n fundamentals to fully enjoy the power of 60 deg lob wedge.

| If you are hitting your existing hybrid well, no harm giving the 5h a shot.
After coaching, you might improve on your 5i, but you might also hit the 5h even better!

| Lesson can improve your game so eventually you might be able to hit the 5i.
25 handicap here, and I personally use G25 23 5hybrid since it is very easy to hit and more reliable for me than my 5 iron. I also have my wedge setup at 52-56-60, but I try to have my pitching / chipping effort similar throughout and adjust distance accordingly with different loft.

| Either that you get a 5H first, which is easier to hit than 5i and use on course so not to stress your game. While back at the range, you still practice with 5i and when you are good with 5i, you can then decide whether to keep the 5H or continue with newly found weapon - 5i. | |

| Good for you. But do try and get a less "bo chap" coach who will help you. For me, I could never hit my 5i in my old set ever. After 2 over years it looked brand new. I went to a coach who taught me the correct swing, evaluated my equipment and pointed out the deficiencies but told me not to change first. After a number of lessons my swing became stable and it was time to be fitted with a new set. Now I have no qualms taking out my 5i because I know it's fitted for me and my swing is capable of using it to its full potential (at times ). | |
