My POV, be it black ,blue, white or red tee, if teeing off a wayward drive, shank,duff,slice,hook.... will lead to the same, back to square, delay, slow play will happen. If you are not ready for weekend golfing, i strongly suggest play on weekdays, take your time, look back if any flight catching up, let them pass thru, enjoy every shot but hurry up  Smile . Happy Golfing guys... Swing

I m quite easy on the pace, but not the flight behind; I have had an instance whereby I was fired "warning shot" ard 10-15m behind where I was standing on the fairway. But I as hold up by the earlier flight taking their own sweet time on the putting green.
That's a very dangerous thing to do, I would let the flight behind know that.

I know many would disagree with me, but the average golfer should be playing from white.  So if you can't break 90 you should stick to white.  Everyone would be happier including yourself.

The starter should also assume that everyone should tee off from the white. And if someone tries to tee off from the blue or gold they should take note and caution them of quick play.  Maybe even ask them if they are capable of the blue tees.  Also remind them to REPLACE THE DAMN DIVOTS PEOPLE!

Hi guys, I am new here.
I do not usually play in singapore, I play more often in Malaysia.

In Malaysia, I actually feel that playing off white or blue is not much of a big difference. They are usually very near together.

Anyway since I am a CMI player, I usually play off white tee.
I feel that as long as the players knows what they are doing and are aware of the front and rear flight, it should be fine.

There is actually quite a difference blue vs white.  The hazards are more in play, angle of attack is different as trees, carry across water/bunkers are more pronounced.  Playing off blue also requires a longer second shot into the green.

I agree with Elephant789. Most golfers should just play from white unless they can consistently card below 90. Btw, I'm also a white tee player.

How much diference in term of distance between white and blue tees depends on which course and when you play especially true for courses in JB ... In JB courses, during weekend, the clubs might place the blue tee nearer to the white tee to save everybody time as weekend can be crowded ... The clubs also aware that there are many egoistic weekend warriors around. In addition, there are also many who prefer to go for value for money round ...  Laughing

For Singapore courses, the difference in distance between blue and white tees on average is around 20-30 metres ...

I am at the 846 tee off at 1st tee.  Was wondering why every hole got to wait. Seems like the Marshall's were aware of it....

Starters in NSRCC needs to review their starting procedures. They'll indicate golfers to tee off from blue tees for low handicappers. But they're many golfers who are low handicappers due to penalty scores becos they didn't submit scorecards!

No system will ever be perfect.  We, as golfers, know ourselves best & at what level we are playing.  Can always take the initiative & tee it up if we know that we are not able to play to the required level yet.  No point making the game more difficult for ourselves and as a result, diminish the enjoyment of others with our inconsiderate behaviour. As the saying goes: kiang dio ho, mai gei kiang.

My game is more volatile than the stock market.  I enjoy the game more from white. Less stress and less angry with myself for the stupid mistakes I make.  My flight mates all do white, so I don't see the need to do blue.

Happy new year to u and yr family.  Looking forward to our next game. Huat ah!

@ Quest, i believe this happens in a lot of other countries as well, so it is not just a Singaporean golfers thingy.

I do agree with you that one should play the correct tee. I hate it when people have to use driver on 180yds or longer par 3 holes.

For a short hitter like me, I prefer playing off the blue tees because most of the Hazards meant to trap the longer hitters, like Slinger and Mowen, are beyond my reach from the tees and hence I tend to play better…… ;-)

Bro nutty88,

I cannot agree with this statement leh. Whatever club being used for 180yds whether a driver or 7iron, has no relevance to playing from Blue tee. Some people don't have the distance but have the skill, for example senior golfers. Therefore it is more important to have a decent game rather than focus on the type of clubs being used. Does it mean that on a 155yds Par 3 I am not allowed to use a wood because that would technically deem that I am an incompetent golfer?

Anyway, let's not focus on the type of clubs being used but rather the accuracy off the tee. Sometimes pros also tend to spray their tee shots on a bad day. but if that golfer does it for every hole than I agree he should be playing off the White tee. Like Quest, I play form Whie too, but I would not mind if I have the opportunity to play from Blue. Smile

Bro TDO,

You do have a point and I have to agree that one should not judge based on the club used for par 3 holes. However, if a golfer can only hit 180yds for driver, then what will happen when he plays on a long course with par 4s more than 360yds? That would mean that this golfer will struggle for GIR and will incur additional strokes in reaching the green, which translates into more waiting time for the flight behind for this golfer to clear the green. Why not then play the correct set of tees to make the game more enjoyable?

I think that's not important. He can always lay up and get 3 on and depend on his short game skill t oget a par or bogey. I am in this category considering my age. But there are others who are older and have the distance. Nevertheless, we should focus on ability rather than the clubs being used by the particular golfer.

IMHO.. playing blue or white should be based on the golfers ability to advance the ball consistently.

But playing fast or slow has nothing to do with playing from Blue or white. If you put this flight into white, based on the description, they will still delay others as well. Its all boils down to the right golf etiquette not not hold up other, and be ready to play when it is your turn.

Playing white could be one step... but it is not the only variable.
