| My 2 cents worth ...
Get any cheap 2nd hand driver below $100 ... chances are anything you buy now will not be suitable as you progress so no point getting a new one. You might now be able to control it initially, but part of the fun of golf is using the Driver ... so might as well just get one to muck around with ...
Get a hybrid in the 25-27 deg range ... it will be your best friend ... believe a forumer called Putter has a Callaway Razr 27 deg hybrid for sale at $100 ... looks like a good deal
Get a sand wedge (54-58 deg) ... you will need one for bunker play ... used or new is immaterial ... chances are you will upgrade later on.
Get a putter you like ... new or 2nd hand ... again, chances are that you will change it later. If you like blade putters, just get one first ... many golf shops have a area for trying putters, find one you like ... if you have a bad stroke or are mentally uncomfortable, no putter design is going to save you ... having a putter you feel comfortable with is probably more important at this stage | |
