Playing With Lightning & Thunder

Hi, was at Palm Resort yesterday. Weather was bad & play suspended due to heavy downpour, thunder & lightning flashes. Fortunately this came to pass & we managed to complete our game.

What's disturbing though is the sight of some golfers taking to the course when the downpour subsided although the skies were still roaring & the occassional lightning flash & siren to resume play has yet to be heard.

I understand there were 2 cases of golfers being struck by lightning there previously. Can't understand why some guys must risk their life. Shouldn't they be safe than be sorry? Don't think anyone's swing can beat the speed of lightning! !

Let's hope we see more sensibility out on the course especially in these recent wet conditions we're experiencing.

Was at Palm Villa AM tee too. Indeed its a very heavy down pourg! Crying or Very sad

The rain gets lighter after say 45mins then we drove the buggy to our respective tee box hole n waited fr the siren. The siren came only another 25mins later bt then we cld see a flight w female caddies was teeing off... Rolling Eyes

They re takg their live easy n cheaply. How much can the game cost in JB n to seek such thrill?? Wink

Some people just think they are too lucky. I always tell people golf can played another day. You must be living to play golf

I supposed a lot of guys don't realise the danger of playing & taking risks with lightning. Unlike baseball, 1 strike & you're out; no more chances. We only took off from the shed after after we hear the siren; maybe we kia si but better be very very safe! Rolling Eyes

In army lightning risk we all happy to cut exercise. Now golf hear lightning risk many still wanna play :/

When I first pick up golf I was also eager to play despite foul weather but my instructor reminded my group that "never let this be your last game...."

From there on, it was simple - follow the siren...
