Curious, why would you want to carry the bunkers? You can play a bit left onto the open area and still attack the pin from there. Risk vs reward here and I don't think the risk justifies the reward.
Because some ppl like to move his right hand around his head to scratch his left side of his neck instead of using his left hand to scratch his left side of his neck directly. Laughing

Hey Sob, if you have a rangefinder, the easiest thing to do is go to the point in the fairway and shoot the distance backwards to the tee markers.

Alternatively, next time you play, at the tee box, park your buggy next to the tee marker, and before you drive off, press the "Drive" button on the GPS unit, then drive to where the ball needs to land to see what is the carry distance needed.  Completely objective.

Just bear in mind that both of you may be right, as from your original post, it sounds like your buddy is talking about overall distance.  If his 220m drive is normally 190m carry and 30m roll, then for his swing, to carry a 205m, it translates to driving 240m (all in).

In comparison, someone with a higher launch and less roll, e.g. 205m carry with 15m roll, would find it easier (relatively) to carry the bunker.

It would be funny that after knowing the actual distance, your friend realizes that he can't carry that distance. Psychologically, the knowledge of something may actually be more counter-productive.

I've seen that carrying bunkers and then drinking water (thrice) approach before. Very painful to watch.

Sorry, Slinger - I've been pretty busy and down with the flu now. Unless you want me to sneeze into your food, can I please get back to you when I'm better? Perhaps next week, can? Sorry boss!

ZX, definitely. I look forward to playing with you again. It's been too long. I think the last time was at HH with Mox and Meia several years back Sad
