Hi GolfMad62,

May I ask how do you achieve control of your distance when making shots from. say 60, 40, 20 meters to the pin? TIA.

Controlling my short game shots is dependant on my club selection, the width of my stance and the length of my swing

When you think you have just about mastered golf it jumps up and bites you. Practice and dedication to your game is essential to improve and maintain your standard. There are some great golfers on here and some aspiring to get there.

I play golf because of my love of the game

Played at Champions Bukit Timah yesterday. I played the 9 hole course twice shooting 64 and had a great front 9 where i shot 31. Mr Lingham the head pro said i tied the course record. The course is hard work when walking because its very hilly and you need to calm yourself between each shot. My playing partner said the course is not worth the $86 dollars we paid for golf and golf cart but i didnt mind.

All in all it was a fun day.

If double par is considered Par, I break that in every game I played. Anyone who can play below par is no longer a mortal and is considered to be from another world and class.Laughing Beer Swing

You can shake hands with Yani Tseng...she also shot a 9 at the par-3 15th hole at KLGCC on Sunday.

For the guys who practise the range routine of treating every shot as if it is the real thing, how do you practise when you are trying to ingrain a new swing thought? Be it full swing, pitches or chips.

I divided my practice in 3 phase which first technical work  which focus on the technical pattern your correcting, 2nd is target orientated , the last stage is pressure and competition such as playing 18 hole on the range .  every phase should be similar timing i do it 45 min for each section.

1st stage : pick a target so you alignment is correct but don't even think about the result or quality of the shot just try to get comfortable and fix your  swing pattern

2nd Stage : have 3 shot with similar club none of the shot can be similar and you can't hit more than 3 shot at the same target

3rd and last : if you practicing with friends put some  small bet like winner buy drink . I usually play 18 hole on the driving range with friends matchplay . it pretty fun as you wont hit two shot similar consecutively and make you under-pressure

My shot of the day at a recent competition at Batam Hills golf club was a 4 iron from 189 m. I put it within 15 foot of the back pin. Moral of the story is when your at the range pick a target on every shot and for every club.
