| On the range its carpet, on the course its real grass...of course its different!
Anyway, I didnt worry about the score for my first 18-hole; cant even remember, probably worse than you, but who cares, just enjoy!
We are beginners, so its okay...
(I shud say tis to myself more often...)

| My first time? wah, after 5 holes i gave up counting score. Haha, but if you want to be strict i'm sure i hit around 200? HAHAHAHA
But luckily i didn't keep scores the first few times i went. If not i would have given up. The first few times i really just took it as an experience, to get to know how it feels like on the course, things you never get to leaarn at the driving range.

| My first time playing 18 holes was at batam... Hardly sat in the buggy as i was busy looking for my ball...! As for the score... Haiz.. After the 4th or 5th hole it doesn't matter liao.. Anyway after a few weeks of swinging... I went back to the same course... This time i spent much more time on the buggy and lost fewer balls... Jus a phase... It will pass with training... | |

| I'm pretty sure mine was at Desaru Golf & Country Club.. I remember buying a pack of 10 balls before i started.. By the 4th hole, i needed to buy another pack. Would have been a miracle if i scored less than 200. Anyway, that was abt 4 years ago. My lowest at Royal Johor was abt two months back where i got 81. Playing there again tomorrow.. Keep at it! | |

| The first time I played 18 holes... wow... that was many moons ago. I don't recall the score but I remember asking myself why I even bothered to try. Perhaps I intentionally blanked out the score from my mind. Too scary to remember. Regardless, I do know that improvement came from practice. It's always painful at first but after time, the pain reduces (either through regular play or more beer) So, keep at it. Don't worry too much about the score. What matters is that you head back again to the course and play some more. Don't let one round get you down (especially your first round). It's all about playing again next time | |

| Another big difference between the range and the golf course is your stance. On the range, you're always standing on even ground with no slope to worry about. However, on the course, that's not always the case even if you're on the fairway, which can certainly affect your balance and swing. In any case, don't worry about your score, and just enjoy the game | |

| Looking back, those were memories.
My first full 18 was at Daiman Golf Club on 20th Sept 2008 (terrible golf club, I must say!) Shot 112 - 9 double, 7 triple bogeys.

| My first time???? Never record score. Declare hand Wedge, No penalty strokes. All this was suggested by my flight mates.
Second time record score. 158!!!!! 1 double bogey, 1 triple bogey, the rest minimum of double par.
Don't worry so much, important thing is to get swing consistent and then worry about score. WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| Can't remember when, where and what was the score. Just remember my flightmate said don't need to count anything more than 10. So, I guess it was not more than 180 ..................Who care about penalty drop; there was enough penalty. Looking at the bright side, it could only be better next time..... | |

So how long have been you been playing bro? Now must be single hcp already right? Me first time on course was at Keppel. A member brought me in and never took down any score. Second time down at the course (JCC I think) then start keeping score and hit 125. Think Nutty should remember that game with Jeremy. All 3 of them hit long long and straight and I beginner. Standing at Tee box, knees also knocking with them watching. But they are good buddies. All very encouraging and spur me on. Thanks and kudos to Nutty. I am where I am because of them and their encouragements. Anyway was satisfied as I never go for any formal coaching at all. Even now still have not gone to any coach at all. Well, averaging 90s now and very happy and still do not intend to have my stroke twig. As long as I can enjoy good company for a game and get scores of 90s I am happy. Of course much happier when it goes below 90 on and off. Though on bad days, still climbed above 100. But thats just me Titu

| I recalled mine, which was not too long ago. 160. I faithfully kept track of all the penalties and strokes - fat strokes, air strokes, strokes where the ball just rolled... 2m. But that's just me - no expert, and really a fresh fresh beginner. My two cents' worth would be that it's more important to enjoy the feeling of being on the grass, enjoy the game for what it is and you will soon grow addicted to it all. After all, I don't have a aim of turning pro. I always comfort myself that at least I'm out in the sun and getting some exercise. When I played at Horizon last week, that was my 3rd time on the green. Score was 145 if I recalled correctly. Still not a good score at all, but happy to have improved. And again, what's important would be to maintain the improvements, if it happens. So first timez - ganbatte! This is just the start of your journey and it will definitely bring better and more meorable experiences in time to come! | |

| bro,
i also just go for my virgin 18 hole in JCC today..
i also really lost count of strokes.
i only know i keep dropping ball near to buddies to continue the play..
really feel the difference today.. and i keep repeating the same sentence today.
"golf is really not as simple as i thought so"
seems like my upcoming timetable will have a lot of range activites already.
wah ha ha ha... | |

| Yes bian1980, golf is a game that bites you just when you think you got it all figured out. The golf range mostly offers flat surfaces and prime lies, but out in the course there's no such thing, not even on the tee box might you find perfectly flat ground to stand on. My mentor once said, and I quote "you bring only 30% of what you learn on the range out on the course", and "practice doesn't make perfect. perfect practice makes perfect". Best of luck to your game bro! Push forth and never look back! | |
