possible to shorten man irons set for lady to use

Not sure if anyone done this before. What are the pro and con? Or more worth it buying new set. Thanks

Swing weight will be an issue. May be cheaper to buy a second hand set.

My wife did it to a set of R11s at hoishin, and she loves it. She found ladies retail irons set generally too soft. And cutting a couple of inches off the R11s was cheaper than replacing with fitted shafts.

Cut short becomes stiffer.. watch out for tennis elbow.

Thanks all for the advice. I have a set of X22 with graphite R shaft. So thinking maybe suitable for my wife since it is both light and whippy. Anyway, she just starting and hopefully she enjoys this beautiful game like i do. Will bring her to the den once she is ready. She is now using bfg lady 7 irons given to me by Eric.

bro ... u let her start with BFG Irons ... then plan to trim your old set and give it to her while you use a shiny new set ...

I am more than happy if she wants a brand new set. And definitely will get her the set she want. But she doesnt want so thinking of shortening the used set. Maybe after her lessons, she will change her mind. Well, just glad she is willing to take up golf.
