Golf Course Condition Update

Hi, Fellows,
We all go to play games everywhere. But the most disappointing thing is to find that the course condition is less than desired when reaching there to play. Of course we usually check with registration counter but I bet the answers is always a 'very good'.
So I suggest we start to crease topic/subject for each golf course where we played lately and bother to share its condition with the fellow kakis' reference.

To simplify the posting, I suggest we just rate these areas:

1. Green Fee - agar agar ok
2. Fairway - Fair, good, excellent
3. Green - Fair, Good, excellent/slow, fast
4. Bunker - maintained/not
5. Any other thing to mention - traffic, staff friendliness, crowdedness, etc.

MBGC:- 13 july 2013 (sat)
Everything ok and good except all greens are sand. so quite tough to putt.

SCC - 13/07/2013 Sat (PM tee)

1. Green fee- Weekdays (Mon-Thurs) S$90.40++ incl gst/ Weekends?  Very gd kakis signed me in.
2. Fairway - Good.
3. Green - Good (consistant) /mid-fast (Green speed range 8min.-9max) Nicz... 
4. Bunker - Tough as too soft but very well filled! (Like Sentosa fine white beach sands..)
5. Flight(s) frt/ back - smooth traffic & patience
6. Course Marshals - friendly and on duty to check flight schedule constantly wo disturbg golfers. 
7. Overall course rather tough bcoz morn SCC has Tiger Medals Tourney so tee box & pin position further back or at tough line. (Hopefully they ll keep it up nt just durg their mthly medals or any tourney)

12 July 2013- Keppel @ 1222 hrs 

Green fee- member's guest S$115.56 including buggy and GST 7%
Fairway condition- good
Green condition- good except that green speed was not consistent in a few holes (not sure this was intentional)
bunker condition- soft sand, generally in good shape
Others- staffs are courteous, also noticed players (from other flights) are always smiling. Food is excellent at the cafe.
Weather forecast on 12 July 2013 afternoon was thunderstorm....but turned out to be a good day and we completed the round without interruption.

Played on 12th July Friday pm.. Greens were like beaches.. Totally disappointing.. Aren't Mondays and Tuesdays their weekly maintenance day ? Then why the horrid green on a Friday (and now you mentioned Saturday too..) ?

I always wonder, whether such condition entitles the golfers a recourse or partial discount...? After all, golfers pay full green fees on non maintenance should expect certain acceptable green condition..

I played MBGC on Sunday afternoon. Greens were recently hollow thinned and filled with sand. This is routine maintenance of the greens to ensure the grass grow well. Noticed in Jurong CC, they thin half the greens and locate the hole in the un-thinned side so golfers still get a decent putt going. However this is probably more troublesome and I am not sure if it will end up have inconsistencies on different halves of the green eventually. Give it two weeks and the greens will be beautiful.

Horizon Hill (JB) - 9th July 2013

- Green Fee : Total RM 204 (Including Caddy/buggy)
- Fairway : Good but certain locations were a bit shoggy because the heavy rain the night before.
- Green : Fast till it will keep rolling after pull hand-brake!
- Bunker : Tough/Hard due to rain on the night before
- Difficulties : Hard/Challenging
- Caddies : Indo & Friendly > Good in reading lines
- Facilities : Well Maintained

Royale Golf and Country Club (JKT) - 14th July 2013

- Green Fee : Total IDR 859,000 (Including Caddy/Buggy)
- Fairway : Good but some parts are soggy - a bit disappointed since it is supposed to be one of the best courses in JKT
- Green : very fast - even though soggy a slight tap downhill can go 5 ft past the hole
- Bunker : Sand is soft but shallow. If you hit the bottom, it is quite hard and will bounce up
- Difficulties : V long... Some par 5s are more than 500m off the blue
- Caddies : Indo & Friendly > Good in reading lines
- Facilities : Well Maintained

Tanjung Puteri - Straits Course
21 July 2013, afternoon game
RM100 (booked thru Oscar)

Condition was surprisingly good. Fairways were well maintained and could see the difference between it and the first cut of rough. Greens were not sandy and speed was about 8-8.5. Only downside was the bunkers. Some are ok but others are very hard. It's alright as long as you stay away from it.

Facilities wise was usual to Puteri standard - buggies was ok too. Notice they hired a couple more guards on site as well.

Generally, a good golfing outing there now since its Ramadan and course is generally quiet. Definitely value for money course.

IOI Palm Villa - 21/07/2013 Sun (PM tee)  
1. Green fee Ramadan special at rm138 all in. 
2. Fairway - Palm good, IOI good.
3. Green - Good (Green speed range to 8-8.5) Nicz... 
4. Bunker - Nice & filled.
5. Course traffic - rather quiet.

Sentosa Tanjong - 19th July, Friday, PM
1. Green fee - N/A
2. Fairway - Good. Not excellent as cow grass has been edging over the carpet. And the rough areas are not maintained.
3. Green - Excellent (speed 10.8)
4. Bunker - Good condition
5. Others - generally a top golf club with very high standard of maintenance. Oh, the driving range is excellent, as practice is from real lawn floor.

Panderosa - 20th July, Sat, AM
1. Green Fee- RM230, through Oscar
2. Fairway - Excellent condition, with think lawn and trimmed
3. Green - Very good, speed is around 8
4. Bunker - Generally good, with some are wed but all raked
5. Others - No hick-up. normal pace.

Palm Spring Batam, 20 Jul 13 (GR game)

Green fee: N/A as it's group of 10 flights, paid $136 per pax with lunch.
Fairway quite good
Green, it's quite good on the island course but the Palm side, the hole 1 was quite patchy especially the patch near the pin on that day.
Bunker relatively good condition
Others, it's a generally well maintain course.

Ponderosa is currently one of the better maintain course in JB, I would rate it among the top 5 for JB side.

Saujana Golf Bunga Raya Course - 20th.July.2013
Green Fees: RM350 (weekend member guest)
Fairway: Good condition
Green: Excellent, with speed around 10~11, very difficult to chip near in case not on regular. All the 18 holes green speed is constant not like certain courses having different speed.
Bunker: Most of the bunkers are very hard and easily become "Homerun".
Caddy: Our flight caddies Just came for first day and cannot read the line as well as distance. The other flight caddy is good and experience.
Buggy: Good
Overall: Very Tough course

Legends Hill course green is ok.

Legends Golf Country Club Palm+Hill Course- 24/Aug/2013
Green fee: RM220 (not including caddy)
fairway: Palm not really good maintenance, quite some location grass already Botak but Hill course is OK
Green Condition: Both courses OK
Bunker: many stones inside bunkers, palm course sand less, Hill course certain bunker no sand and hole 10 is red soil not sand.
Buggy: OK, quite good.(previously heard some GD members complaint about this but today is OK)
But today morning many flights, second nine (Hill course) every holes need to wait.
Club House: shower room smell bad need additional ventilation.

Raffles is repairing the Lake course greens, started a month ago and might take another month or so. The green look like a chess board and unplayable. 
Palm green is nice, speed 9.5.

In Jakarta, they will give you return voucher at half price from standard... And do it without you saying your green like beach... Now I really missss Jakarta golfing....

Palm Resort (Cempaka)

Green ok.
Bunkers some were very hard but generally ok.
Fairway - a few holes the condition was bad with different kinda of grass look more like rough than fairway especially hole 1.

Wkday promo rate of RM 88 ok but wkend forget it.

Thursday promo RM75.00 but is a little crowded, slow play by some new golfers!!
