| Twist what?
Me talking about golf. Hand speed a lot of relation to distance. Soft hands and wrists lead to good lag, translating to more whip; at impact, the little white blob, sorry... orb shoot further than normal lor!
Instructors have long realised that putting pictures in people's head help most understand the theory behind the swing better ma.
Although everytime I hear the one about "hitting the small ball before the big ball", I involuntarily wince...

| I was so hopeful when i came online and saw so many replies to this thread.. thought could see the distances that you guys are hitting.. alas.. it has become another tcss thread.
Guess S70B has a point, but i thought people would generally have a good idea of what their distances are, otherwise how to decide on club selection?
Btw, i'm sure Trackman can measure your hand speed. It will show you your stroke, the trajectory of projectile, and even if you're cock-ed left or right. Staring at jimmychoo's avatar may make measurements more accurate.

| I always have this phobia of gripping the club not too tight. Afraid that after swinging at the ball, not only see the ball fly, but also something long and straight also follow. So always hold it tight lor. So how??? But there is a reason why I hold my club tight. Let me be a bit lor sor and tell you all a story. The first time my friend brought me to the range, the one at ECP, I think it was called Parklane. It was during lunch time so not many people around. He took a bay nearer to the end towards the left side of the range. He placed the ball on the tee and then step back. Took a couple of swing then he address the ball. Up goes the club then back down. SWOOOOSSSSHHHHH.......and the ball flies forward . SO DID HIS CLUB!!!!!!!!!! But do you know where the club went???? It goes like a BOOMERANG ! I swear.....The club just fly going in an anti-clockwise direction with such speed that it flies back towards the left side of the range !!!! Having experienced that sight that when I started my golf, the picture was so vividly clear still in my mind that Now I dare not grip my club slightly loose. Well thats a true story. NOw you asked me to hold the club not so tight.... Titu | |

Staring at jimmychoo's avatar may make measurements more accurate. Haha, all in fun and jest. But seriously mate, the higher the hdcp and less experienced the golfer, the more difference the actual and reported carry will be. How many times have u asked a fellow golfer how far he hits 'X' club and he tells u a figure. Then reach a par 3 he is woefully short? Amateurs tend to relate and use their best career shots as their avg distance. Better players and professionals will be more accurate by using the average of all their practice shots. It is also the reason why better players are more often 'pin-high' than high hdcpers who always seem to be 1 or 2 club short.

| I think it will be better if we also add in how we swing using the driver and 7i coz not all of us swing at max for both clubs | |

Driver distance - 180m 7i distance - 125m Somehow this swingspeed doesnot translate to distance. What is the 2nd element here? Attack angle?

| let me add another formula for you guys.
based on a 45 degree loft iron, which roughly translate to a weak 9 or strong PW, your driver distance is about double of that.
DGman
PS where swing speed is a can be a rough guide for distance, however smash factor and your ability to hit the sweep spot can add up to 25% more distance and accuracy.

| if your PW is 110m, then your driver distance will be 110 x2= 220m
if your 9i is 120m, then 120 x2= 240m

kekeke j/k.... Ha ha My LW 60* when top can hit nearly 100m with roll sometimes Guess DG is quite correct in the guestimate there. I am hitting PW at about 100m and a good hit ( I said only a good hit ) on my driver will reach 200m but most of the time its around 185 m for me on the Driver. Titu
