| Used to have similar problem thru out my irons where certain irons sharing same distance. Especially like your case of PW & 9i. Then I somehow find I'm too weak to handle the stock DG shaft and decided to try SF. Got a used SF i80 S flex and then during my first green with it, my PW and 9i were diff by 10! Well some time it feel the same distance to me on range but on green I see better difference...
Well that's what work for me... U got to try it to know what u need...
For me, I need both my PW & 9i... I would only sacrifice my long irons if I need to leave some at home.

| I had two of my friends to test both my 9i and PW today. They too feels the distance is the same. They too suspected it to be a QC problem that resulted in both clubs having the same length. But then again the three of us are of the same standard... | |

You tried their clubs? See any difference in distance?

| To measure loft without instruments, you can try placing the club face up and stepping on the clubs, the shafts should point at different angles. The pitch at a higher degree. | |

usually the difference btw 9I to PW should only be 0.25" You can check the specs online. Is the difference felt? or checked? Where isit? Range or course?

| Results as follows: 9i - 35.75" PW - 35.5"
Really very slight difference in length.
Loft wise can see PW has slightly more loft.
Once again Thanks all GR for your advices.

Once again Thanks all GR for your advices. Sometime the difference in distance can be short (say, 5 m or less) depending on the AoA ... As one of the blokes mentioned above, u need to hit down and lean your hands forward of the ball on impact inorder to deloft the club dynamically to achieve greater and more penetrating distance. Many social golfers like us tend to scoop the ball which results in seeing a "balloon" trajectory ...

| its probably the way you swing, loft of the clubs will not differ too much from the specs.
you probably use more shaft lean on your PW swing and less on your 9 iron? More shaft lean would deloft the club, essentially making your PW become a 9 iron loft.
i can hit my 8 iron full out 6 iron distance as well by delofting it.

| This is a good read. Main message is not to force your wedges, but focus on achieving consistent clean contact. Trajectory, distance and spin will take care of themselves. - mrkatsucurry wrote:

| How about positioning the ball differently, say more to your right foot vice centre? | |

| I play a 49* PW and a 45* 9i. Compare to the standard lofts you see out there my 9i is like a modern PW like what might be in your case if you didn't check your lofts. | |
