Enquiry on golf courses in New York

Hi GRians,

er, not sure if I am posting the right question here but please forgive and pardon my ignorance if I am wrong.

I will be in US for 6 weeks and in New York from 12 to 26 Apr. Am thinking of golfing in New York.

Would really appreciate any recco or things to watch out for when golfing there. My first time.

Don't tee off too early... With the morning dew it's much colder than expected. After 10am will be better.

Within the five boroughs you are pretty limited. Google or check out http://www.golfnyc.com/ for an idea of what is within or near the city limits. If you have a car Bethpage on Long Island is pretty famous, and the Pocono Mountains is home to several golf resorts.

New England golf is an experience so try as many different courses as you can. Rain will be your enemy in April.

Bro Lem, try long island, lotsa courses there. There is the US parks website where you can book Bethpage Black course... if you feel like experiencing US Open site.

Bethpage is also about an hours drive out of NyC. It's not as difficult unless you choose to be a smart arse and play off the pros tees

Thank you all bros for your advice. I am back from my trip. As promised, just here to contribute. I managed to play a round at Forest Park Golf Course in New York. It is a public course. About 30 min taxi ride from Manhattan. Green fee (incl. buggy) of USD60.

To me, very open, well maintained course. Not that many hazzards but long, narrow fairway. My first time playing under very strong wind condition, with most ball placements at back, tip of right foot (right handed). A whole new experience for me.
