Course management

Hi guys,

Wondering if any of you guys have tips on course management?

Any general ideas will do, thanks!

I am pretty much a lay-up guy.....one thing I learnt is to layup where there is most green for me to approach the pin.

- Try to think of different option for every shot

- Driver isn't a must , hit 3 wood or other club if you struggling of the tee .

- sometime is safer to hit the middle of the green that attack the pin .

- for Par 5 / Long Par 4 : try to lay-up for a position that it's will easy to attact the pin to make birdie. this mean a possition where it will have a lot of green to work with and a good angle .

- Identify the hazard or trouble. Play adequately that the trouble doesn't come into play with your shot .

- Before a tee shot , think of the yardage you want to hit and from which angle and shot to play.

what scores do u normally shot???

its better if u let us know more abt your game... then we can offer better tips

Bro slinger......just wanted to say a big thanks for showing where to tee up at the box.....nowadays....life abit easier on the course

Finding the fairways is more important than having distance and needing to scramble.

Yeah... I post around 100+

Breaking down the score, half my holes are 3 putts.
But realised had an alignment problem, switched to a mallet, and now 3 putts are the exception.

Was about to post the obvious. The short game, and blame the 60*...

But then realised it probably is the mental approach.

I can whip out big drives, but I force it to push out a bigger drive.

The occasions I crank out a good drive, I squander the chances.

Thought process goes "damn what a drive. 55m left, then maybe a 2 putt. Sheesh I'm gonna turn pro. Need better shaft, maybe better heads..... Or better ball. No more bargain second hand ones for me man. I'm gonna rule the world."

Then top the next shot. Hahaha

Or "damn what a drive. 150m left. Just carry this one over that insane pond (Occ aranda hole 4)....." Copy and paste from above.

Result? Copy and paste from above.

Play yo fairway, avoid all trouble and most important is to study the course well, hole-by-hole. Hope this help?

think i have written abt this many times....

if u bogey every hole, thats 18 over n score of 90...

if u benchmark abt this, its easy to plan your course management....


there are reasons for blow holes:

1) penalty strokes : OB, water hazards, lost ball

2) avoid the bunkers : if u are playing for bogey, dun need to cheong 2 on, tee off with right club to avoid bunkers on fairway, club down to avoid bunkers protecting the green


if its a par 4, play 3 on n make 2 putts..... its a good way to practise your short game as well


golf is progressive n is abt confidence...

once u can break the 90 mark, u will have more options to bring your game to next level....

Have.

Stay humble and constantly practice

On the side note, i think keeping your focus and having a positive attitude plays a huge role in course management.

Many higher handicap players lose focus after a few bad shots and couldn't find their way back. They just have to learn to grind (Not the clubbing kind grind) and with a positive attitude, it'll help you recover sooner and have fun on the course.

good pointers guys.

Think ill aim for bogeys and easy pars first.

Some easy GIRs if possible, if not 3 on and dont 3 putt.
