I'm going to upgrade my 3G one for the 3Gs. I hope it won't burn too big a hole in my pocket.

My current iPhone is causing me probs and there isn't enough space for my music/vids. Upgrade... upgrade... upgrade...

haha anyway i got an e63 recently, and have been facing many problems with it. so for those who are considering it ... lets just say its not really userfriendly, and i've sent wrong messages to wrong people 3 times!

You want to buy the E71? I have one sitting at home which hasn't been used much.

Its about time..... I wish the SG would also opened their eyes.

WASHINGTON - The US Justice Department is conducting an initial review to determine whether large US telecom companies have abused their market power, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

The newspaper, citing 'people familiar with the matter,' said the review of potential anti-competitive practices by companies such as AT&T and Verizon is 'in its very early stages.'

It said there was no formal investigation at this point and it was not clear whether the agency intends to launch an official inquiry.

The Journal said the review could look into whether wireless carriers were hurting smaller competitors by locking up popular phones through exclusive agreements with handset makers.

It noted that lawmakers and regulators have raised questions recently about deals such as AT&T's exclusive service agreement with Apple, maker of the popular iPhone.

'The Justice Department may also review whether telecom carriers are unduly restricting the types of services other companies can offer on their networks,' the newspaper said.

President Barack Obama's antitrust chief, Christine Varney, has pledged to be more aggressive than the previous administration in cracking down on practices seen as anti-competitive.

Combined, AT&T and Verizon control 90 million landline customers and 60 per cent of the 270 million wireless subscribers in the United States, the Journal said. -- AFP

When I was living in the US last year, I had no choice but to get the iPhone 3G from AT&T even though their services aren't the best. There was a lot of debate about whether AT&T should have such broad rights but ultimately, nothing was done. It was the 'take it or leave it' approach... and that must have annoyed lots of users.

hear from my frd tha the 1st batch of 3Gs has got accelerator problem...

Yeah, I'm also holding back. First batch is kinda screwy. Lots of issues. I'll let it run for a while first and then upgrade in the later part of the year. Besides, my current iPhone 3G works just fine.

My frd is trying to get the 2nd batch from US direct. Shd be out on 13 or 14 July. Hope the review's good.

Puteh, pls keep us in the inner circles if you have lobang ya. Want to get one as well..

Wouldn't the phones from the US be tied to AT&T?

nope...frd got lobang getting it direct from Cupertino... but warranty wise might be an issue cos i don't think iphone covers international... they are still sorting it out...

So far from what I've known, my frd is planning to bring in a few to test the mkt here... So, he will pay for everything 1st. It's on COD term...

LOL! I've been a faithful iPhone follower for a while now. Got the 2G one when it first appeared in the US. Brought it back to Singapore and used it extensively. Now it sits in quietly in a box. I upgraded to the 3G version when I lived in the US last year and sold it when I left. Now with the SingTel 3G version. Been a happy iPhone user so far
