| I think the mods have explained the reasons for their action.
They have acted well within their mandate.
Some of us may not agree with the decision, but we have to respect it.

| Good morning all! Thank you for all passionate comments and impassioned pleas. Like or dislike, we log in to follow the drama that unfolds with each post. Anything is this world that is worth liking is also worth disliking, as such the more likes one has, the more corresponding dislikes there will be. No one wants to be wallpaper. Yes, it brightens up the room, but does anyone ever walk into the room and overtly say they like or dislike the wallpaper? No one notices. As such, all and sundry are welcome to Golf Republic, because it takes all kinds. Hands up, anyone who knows of someone who's been rejected from joining this forum. No? You, the golfer here in this forum is what makes up Golf Republic and Golf Republic is nothing without you. Which brings me to my next point regarding the post below: "Anyway ... All these will just drive sympathy votes to sigma... Raise questions among the more discerning forumers ... Do consider the repercussions ...the underdogs could one day become your main stay ... I've casted my vote " The one word the stood out for me is "repercussions". It's funny to me how many are missing the forest for the tree. Aren't we taking our positions as members in this forum for granted? As I mentioned before, we are guests in this forum, myself included. We can cry mother and father all we want but that fact remains. On festive occasions when we visit, we are guests in someone else's home. Do you walk in with shoes on and declare what you want to eat? That you don't like this or that and keep harping on it throughout the entirety of your visit? How do you think your behaviour will affect other guests who drop in? Some may find it amusing, a few may even be on your side, but what of the majority? Most importantly, What of your hosts? Ever considered the ultimate "repercussion"? That the administrators (not the mods) decide that they've had enough of fighting so much nonsense which detracts from the main aim of Golf Republic? Should they decide to call it a day and close shop, who will you cry mother and father to? Where will you go and "stir shit"? Sure there are other forums out there you may say, then why do you keep returning to Golf Republic? Everything that is done in Golf Republic is for your benefit. YOU, the golfer! Let's keep that in mind. We all love some shit stirring, mods included believe or not, it adds to the fun. Just like shit stirring during a social round of golf is also fun, yet that same shit stir has no place in competitive or even corporate golf. There is a place and time for everything, and everything in moderation.

If a thread started is talking about a specific matter.....but then progress to a state where by the comments on the three is everything but relevant to the original intent of the thread,,,,then it's crap. When it's crap, I think it's right to get locked.
Imagine if u go Wikipedia and u search for something.....but crappy stuff come out.....how interesting and helpful is thAt??? Will it enhance your confidence in the site ? Same logic la
But of cos, if the threadstarter change the subject to ....TCSS.... Then ok lo...no lock
Make sense? personally, i don't really care how moderators do their jobs. at the end of the day, they are the ones putting time and effort into maintaing this forum, and like many have said, i think they've done a great job. if ppl dont' like it, they can leave. that said, i think they've got it wrong this time. and i'm not saying this as someone who's interested in the stuff on sale in Sigma's thread. I'm just saying this from a perspective of what's fair.
Anyway, back to answering Duval's point. I don't think your analogy with wikipedia works here at all. Wikipedia serves an entirely different purpose from a golf forum. Ppl go to wikipedia to search for information on a specifc topic and some ppl (God bless their souls) even rely on the info in wikipedia. That is certainly not the case here. Its like comparing apples and oranges. And the irony is that some ppl do actually find sigma's WTS thread interesting and not 'crappy'. And of cos the greatest irony is that there are so many other threads out there which are full of irrelevant info, and which do not receive the same treatment.
anyway i'm not here to take sides. i just want to say that we should be level headed, and most importantly be fair in our comments and treatment of fellow forumers.
oh btw, i have read sigma's thread in its entirety and even if it's 'messy' (which i do not think it is), the mess was caused by other forumers and not sigma himself. in fact, sigma has even stated that ppl should stop commenting in his thread. so we are effectively penalising sigma for the 'mess' created by others. Totally agree.. To some, 'crapy' or not depends not in the content and who is saying them, just depends on which 'side' they r on, it seems. I read some post abt how we should be good guest, how abt being a good host? U do not invite someone to ur home and abuse them. True, mods have rights, but rights should not be abused.

You found Golf Republic, you registered to become a member! Golf Republic did not act as host and invite you in as a guest. You knocked on the door and asked to be let in as a guest. Think through the analogy before you even post, for goodness sake. This is just too funny.

| I think my original question has been answered. Time for this thread to RIP.
PS - Any recommendations for a good but reasonably priced fitter open this afternoon in Bishan Range, Toa Payoh or OCC? Need to fit my freshly collected .335 RIP Alpha to a R11 .350 adaptor.
And please. No smart alecs advice to tell me to go to S....O..

Dude, I agree absolutely with you ... U hit the nail right on its head ... Re your voluntary to join comment, in legal term, it is called, "Invitation to Treat!" ... Like it or not, each and every forum has its house rules. Those who cannot accept the house rules, they are free to move on and emigrate to other forums for good.

Very interesting birdman.. If I read it correctly, we, the menbers are uninvited guest, possibly unwanted guest and that we are here, subjected to your abuse? eh, i realize that your nick says it all la... but honestly, perhaps you received an invitation by email / post card / or maybe some victoria secret model showed up at your door BEGGING and PLEADING with her life that you join GR... but for the commoners like myself and i suppose every other GR member, we searched out for a place online that we can call our online home of golf to meet friends, interact with friends and hopefully meet new people who would in time, become friends. if you are of the opinion that our online home is not befitting of your "honored guest" status, please, by all means, LEAVE! i cannot speak for the mods or any other forumer, but i speak for myself when i say that i find your comments to the mods extremely distasteful and reading your whiny posts a waste of my precious golfing time. once again, i believe that be you an "invited guest", "honorable guest"", or an " unwelcomed guest", you are still a guest and it is your prerogative to do as i would suggest, LEAVE!

| I really think there is no need to criticise someone's nick by saying "eh, i realize that your nick says it all la..."
" cannot speak for the mods or any other forumer, but i speak for myself when i say that i find your comments to the mods extremely distasteful and reading your whiny posts a waste of my precious golfing time."
I dun think he ask, invite, beg you to read his post. Just like someone mentioned, if you dun like the rules, then leave. Likewise the same logic applies here, if you do not like someone's post, then ignore. There is no need to mention that reading his post is wasting your time.
I know neither of you. But I just feel that your (Sham) comments to him (SiaoKao) is uncalled for.

| Looks like its time to lock this thread and move on, Sigmaone would be fine and we will still pounce on any good items that he's letting go on a new thread maybe, just like golf everyone can always recover from a bad shot to make par somehow | |
