Lower ball flights Empty
PostSubject: Lower ball flights   Lower ball flights I_icon_minitimeThu Sep 13, 2012 1:02 pm

Hi everyone, been reading about shafts and ball flights and what people think about them. It seems many are concerned about getting their ball flight to be lower(not necessarily from this forum). Anyone feels the same way?

I am just thinking, what constitutes a high/low ball flight, how do you know if yours is too high/low?

And isn't high good in neutral conditions? Where we can get the ball to stop faster?

Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks! cheers

My ball flight used to be pretty crappy but with the PX5.0 Flighted shafts, I get a better height.

My definition of high or low

If the ball can hit a low flying plane, it's too high

If ball can knock the daylights out of a worm, it's too low.

Anything in between would be fine.

awesome video!

I have been practicing the low flighted shot for the last month and I think it has paid off a couple of times. i must say it is really a useful tool to have and not only when winds are strong but also when you are under trees and such. problem is i still can't get it to bend the way i want it! haha!

err ok i try my best to describe..
weight on the left foot (probably 70%)
hands ahead of ball (delofting the club face)
i prefer to stand slightly open to target

i have been practising mainly with 7iron only and trying to hit to 100m target. sometimes tried with 4 and 5iron and it works less consistently.

how much to swing depends on trial and error and where you want it to land. gripping down on the club helps too.

remember to shout 'stinger!' upon successful implementation!

hope this makes sense! lol!

edit: forgot to add that the follow thru is somewhat shortened and hands do not roll over.. alright have fun!

it's hard to quantify how high one's ballfight is without a launch monitor to provide absolute numbers. however in practice, an ideal ball flight should be one that goes high enough such that the ball will stop within a reasonable distance for a given club (of course the amount of spin will affect this as well), but low, or rather, penetrating enough to hold it's flight in the wind. in general the higher the ball goes, the more it will be affected by the wind
