| love the 3W. It is actually very easy to hit. And i don't use it to get 2 on for par 5, i use it to lay up.

| thanks for the responses guys. i think i shall continue my search for the perfect wood, pretending it has nothing to do with my swing.
so far the best one i've tried, and as pointed out by jeffman, is the cobra baffler rail. the shallow face really makes it great off the deck. the only thing is that i dont quite like the offset.
anyway i'm now in search of either a ping g10 or callaway razr x black. they look rather promising at address =)

| i think for any given loft, fairway woods are usually the easiest to launch due to their design (i.e. a 19 deg 5 wood vs 19 deg hybrid vs a 2 iron), but i do agree that getting a good hit with a wood is not as easy compared to the shorter clubs as it requires quite a bit of precision to 'sweep' the ball off the turf | |

| If I took out my fairway wood means trouble coming soon. Don't take out maybe still a bogey. | |

Not for me. I find it easier hitting a 2H (17*) as opposed to a 4W (17*). But I suck at this sport so heaven knows what I'm doing wrongly or rightly.

| If u hit down type, get deep face, swing flat type, get shallow face. Aim small miss small. | |

But I suck at this sport so heaven knows what I'm doing wrongly or rightly. i should add..given equally decent hits on each of these, the fw gives the best launch. and yes..i share your view that hybrids are the easiest of the lot to hit

| The result of my 3 wood is often inversely proportional to how much I want to hit it.
When I relax, it's a miracle....
When I MUST CARRY THAT WATER HAZARD, it's a miracle...if I can find the ball later.

| Funny thing is this thread has gone up to 3 pages and a few posts talked about - changing shaft length - bending the loft - switching from deep face to thin profile - changing shaft weight
Maybe any one or combination of the above may work
What about getting instruction? I got it (hitting fw off the deck) sorted out after seeing Allen couple of years back. IMHO, it is good to have a fw swing in your arsenal of shots. Do consider instruction too

| The most difficult club to hit is your long iron. Even if you have good technique, you need to have sufficient club speed to hit long irons well.
For fairway wood off the deck, we need additional attention to ball position versus your iron shots. But no need to swing any harder than your short iron.
Also, it is harder to find the fairway wood that suits you. That is why you see PGA pros still using older models of fairway wood (and putters) while they usually keep up with the latest model of drivers/irons/wedges.

| Yea fw is tough but long iron is tougher...
There are some easier to hit fw, but finding an easier to hit 3i is rather futile.
