scogen.. it depends on how often you use it actually.

My family has 2 golf trolley in all and we have been having it for almost 2 years now. the thing is that we seldom use it actually.

we find it easier to carry a stand bag rather than push/pull a golf trolley.

Yes there are people who drive the golf buggy regularly.

I do use the golf buggy daily, sometime for golfing 18 hole and sometime just to get from point A to point B and sometime to TS home to deliver balls (just kidding).

So what your point bro?

Do you have a new product that you need testers?

question on golf cart Empty
PostSubject: Re: question on golf cart   question on golf cart I_icon_minitimeThu Oct 22, 2009 7:29 pm

I am a student currently working on a project on solar-powered golf buggy. One requirement is the golf buggy is expected to be powered by solar energy completely, in other words, no charging of the batteries from AC electrical supply. Basically, I am looking for ways to allow charging of batteries as people drive their golf buggies around the golf course. Since I have not played golf nor drive the buggy, I need people with experiences to aid me in the questions below. I also need to consider safety features of the buggy. Very Happy

1) Solar charging depends on the timing and the weather. May I know what is the time period where people play golf? Example, from 9am to 4pm?

2) What is the average time taken to drive from one hole to the next hole? And how long do you play on a hole before moving to the next?

3) Does anyone find it hot to stay in a buggy during a hot afternoon? Would it be more comfortable if a fan is placed in the buggy?

4) Has anyone encounter any accident related to golf buggy? (For instance, passenger flying out after a sharp and fast negotiation, or toppling over of the buggy?

5) What are some of the things you think the current generation of golf buggies are lacking in?

I hope the moderators would allow me to post my questions and not close this tread. Thank you.

1) Not sure for the rest but SCC earliest tee off time is 7am and latest tee off time is 2.08pm. So people will play anywhere from 7am to 7+pm when finish for 18 hole. So if you start at 2.08, you will finish around 7...depending on the flights in front.
Some courses like JCC have night golfing.

2) Drive from one hole to another is quite fast most of the time. Maybe 1-2 minutes on average. Some no need to drive to next hole, some maybe 2-5 minutes.... Again it depends on the course and the hole tee off location from the last green location.

3) It will help but I will still get hot.

4) Not personally although this does happened.

5) Better steering control and traction.

First of all, welcome to GolfRepublic.org.

I do not mind having you around to ask some questions. After all, I am a very friendly golfer except when it comes to giving strokes.

As for your question, I think a buggy without energy storage capability is no good. First of all, 1st tee time is 7ish and without charged battery in the first place, the buggy would not have juice to run at first light.

Another important point is what happens when it rains? Stuck out there in the rain?

i think it is a good idea. r u with the Poly or U?

for a start, if you can recharge the onboard battery with sunlight, i think it is a good breakthrough already. typically, one full-charged battery cant last the whole day.

got sun, got golf - although we always hope for cloud cover. plus, we always like to park in the shade, otherwise the clubs will get baked... so, you cant really expect us to park in the sun all the times.

if u got the chance, go check out the specs of the battery and motor in the buggy (try talk to nemo, for example), and from there, have a sensing of the current loading and requirement. You must have enough torque to go up slope (with full load).

Safety? If you adpot a value-add approach, then safety is less of an issue.

I am in U now. There would be batteries to be charged by the solar panels.

For safety issues, would you prefer a seatbelt in place?

Please dont suggest putting safety belt on a golf buggy. Otherwise LTA may think it is a good idea and i might have to decide to give up golf. You will have traffic police hiding on the golf course behind trees which are a plenty and with a camera, could you just imagine that???? affraid $120 fine??? affraid

Seat belts is a no-no.

I already prefer to drive in parking lots without seat belts.

Imagine clicking in and out of the seatbelts 50 some times in a game?

I would have rather walked.

besides at those low speeds, I do not think Seat belts will make much siginficant impact. If it is anything, just put lighting rods in those babies.

Mr. Soh of TMCC got into a coma yesterday because of a lighting strike rather than a buggy accident.

Seatbelts? Nah... no need. How fast does the cart go anyway? And, if the cart does somehow or other topple over, you'd want to be able to free the unconscious sod in the buggy without the difficulty of undoing the seatbelt.

if u focus on safety, u r on the wrong track... golf is a dangerous game by itself.

anyone for a solar-powered chiller inside the buggy?
