| I hate those 10 foot chips onto the green. I can't seem to control my chips and as a result, either send the ball too far (either from sheer force or from topping the ball) or duffing the shot. So, I thought I'd be a pussy and get myself a chipper. Anyone have this or want to share their thoughts. Go on... blast away! | |

As on 'lazy'....I am one also....but I view that as a form of retaining my good shots.....don want to waste good shots on training....hahahaha (My philosophy: Every golfer has only a finite good shots a day, a month and a year)

| Ya lah, pro say must have variety I listen lor. I practice more chipping, putting and bunker shots here cos firstly, its free and secondly, the range balls are friggin ex lor. ...but seriously, the courses in FL dun have much options to C & R. Most of the time when you miss a green, the ball is sitting down in the long sticky rough. Its blast out with a lofted club from it ala PGA tour-style courses. | |

| Anyway, back to the original topic, TS, getting a chipper is like a band-aid. It doesn't cure faulty technique. The good thing is that unlike the golf swing, faulty chipping is easier to correct and wun take very long. You just have to revisit the basics or go see a pro. | |

| haha i dont use a 3w or hybrid! but neither do i use a chipper, so given an option i'd choose the other 2 which are cooler.
but i second S70B - if you learn how to chip properly it will do other wonders for the rest of your game.

| Thanks, folks. I should go back to my 7i. I think that's a good suggestion, Rex. I used to do so before without problems but somehow, went to my 48˚ wedge (PW).
I'll continue to work on my swing. Really appreciate the useful comments, folks!

| Talking about Chipper. Yesterday I met up with one of my colleague for range session and he has a chipper in his bag, 37deg.
Bery easy to use. It can be used for approach 125m, damn damn forgiving with a nice check and bery accurate.
But buying it to replace my 8i as well as for chipping seems bery wierd though.

| Roystonn, sounds like you tried the Cleveland Niblick; which some people really like. It's more like a chipper/hybrid/wedge.. thingy.. | |

Not sure if it's the Cleveland brand. I thought any brand of chipper with 37deg would do the same trick? Wonder how expensive that would be. If cheap, can buy and pway pway. hehe.

| i cant accept chipper... not sure why... but too reliant on it can kill yr game...got a fren have one for chipping anything from 30m in, then slowly to 50, to 70m.... then screw up the basic swing for all clubs... for me, if need to hit n run, anything from P to 7i.... if at fringe n betting include putting penalty, i will use my 4H to chip... | |

| 4H to chip? Wow! That's quite daring. The ball will run if you don't control the strength of the swing. | |
