| Since I sold most of my old clubs and picked up a proper iron set, I'm left with two wedges - a 58* and a 60* from my old collection. They were kinda new cos one was from my Bangkok set and the other was from my Jakarta set (if you are curious). I also have an old PRGR sandwedge but it's not so easy to get out from the sand... that's why the other guy didn't want it.
So now, with the two wedges, I'm thinking (instead of buying another one and start another collection) of bending the 58* to 54/55/56* as my "new" sand wedge?
Is this a good idea? Yes, to each their own.
And if bending is OK- what's good? 54/55/56? I'm thinking 54* so that it's not too close to my 60* and almost a Gap Wedge...
And also where can I bend them, i.e. shop?
Thanks again to all the SiFus!

| Pls check the irons and material, if forge can bend but probably 2 degree max, from 58 to 54 is too much and dun think it is possible.

| so much? forged are so fragile and it can break easily. 1 deg ok, 2 already forcing it....4!!! better don't try. why not get a 2nd wedge plenty of 2nd hand wedges here are good price. | |

| I think better off getting a new wedge with the loft u want. Bending so much will also affect the bounce. | |

I think the first step should be to measure (or find out from the manufacturer's website) the lofts of your current irons. Then go to a range, hit a few balls with each iron, including the 58* and 60*, and note the average distance with each club. Write it down. The gaps should be consistent between clubs. Modern PW usually have about 45* loft. If you bend to 54/55/56, you will have a huge gap of at least 9*. That is more than 2 clubs difference! If you hit your PW 100m straight quite consistently, and you can lay up to use your PW consistently, then you don't need to adjust your setup. If you are confident with half swings to cover distances from 100m and below, then you don't need to change anything at all. However, if you hit your PW 120m, and you are not comfy with half swings, then it may be better to get a wedge with 4-5* more loft than your PW to narrow the distance gap. For dedicated fairway use, keep the wedge bounce below 10*. About 7-8* is good enough. The max I have personally bent my forged irons without breaking is 6*. (It was an accident..... I pulled tooooo hard..... ) Most forged I bent gives easily to 2-3*. So unless you are prepared to risk breaking your 58*, I don't think you can cover the distance gap well by bending it. It all depends on your PW loft and your style of play. Oh, and by the way, loft and bounce have almost a 1:1 relationship when bending. Add 1* loft = add 1* bounce and vice versa. Enjoy your tweak!

| Suggestion: Bend to 56* (use as SW) and its then distinct from ur 60* which shd then be ur LW.. then go and buy a 51* as ur AW if need be | |

| Thanks guys for your useful tips. I'll bring it over to the pro-shop and see if it's bendable. And see if there are any good deals around.
I've already gotten into trouble for having too many sets lying around... finally cleared the space under the stairs and can't start a new collection so soon.

I've already gotten into trouble for having too many sets lying around... finally cleared the space under the stairs and can't start a new collection so soon. you can always sell your wedges and buy a new/2nd hand one. I know the feeling too! I think I tried too many wedges and finally settled with zodia wedges. on the degree like r510tp said, you have to experiment on the distance. find your awkward distance and bend them to your liking. for example my awkward distance is 80m if swing full swing 56 short by 5m and if swing 52degree will be over. so I bend my 56 to 55. Having said that you have to be really comfortable with halfswing or choking down your wedges.
