| I missed at least 5 "4 footer " putt in the last game. I found out it was my alignment problem. How should we align correctly? I cannot use the marking on the ball, as I have parallex problem. | |

| I can do a 50 consecutive putt at 6 ft on the pratice matt. But on the green everything vanished. So I pratice putting at the edge of the pratice matt ( instead of puting the ball at the center), I started to miss my putts. This is how I found out my alignment problem. | |

| I was taught to stand straight with your feet close together and place your putter as close to the feet as possible, pointing towards the intended path... with your chin touching your upper chest, align your feet and putter towards the line of intended putt, this should address the parallax error problem... I usually uses the line on the ball to help align, but for shorter putts, i will us the above method which works well for me. Maybe you can try... good luck Tiga! | |

| Most of the time 3-4 foot putt is confident level putt. Some people are lousy at that because their brain tell them i'm gonna miss it because i'm lousy at that distance.
Try this. After reading the line, try to putt as your normal putting, but this time put your concentration to see is your ball going to where you aim, and are you reading the break correctly, don't be afraid of missing the putt, this is where you going to learn, and get ready for your next putt just in case you miss, see where is the break when the ball is traveling toward the hole, so your next putt will be easier. but very important is the weight, do not leave it short, so you can see the break. When you divert your attention to somewhere instead of worrying will my putt sink, actually to can preform better, once you sink couple of those putts, your confident will come back. Once confident is back, you will not feel tense doing short putt.
Everytime learn from the previous hole putting, how the ball break, and how you gonna putt to get your ball to where you aim, maybe you read the line wrongly, instead of thinking your putting is incorrect.
I am a NSRCC member they have a very big and nice putting green, maybe if you free, we can exchange our putting experience there some day.

| You can align or stand anyway you like as long to get your ball to where you are aiming, open stand, close stand, anyway you like. as long as you are comfortable, there is no right or wrong putting stand or how you align. Those two feet straight hands close to your body, chin up or down is just a very general guide line for putting. dont worry too much if you are not following that. | |

| One quick fix is to minimise the back swing, make it shorter and then putt swiftly. One advice I got is that do not think too much for short putt as u will tend to lose focus on the alignment. Tried it n seems to work for me.
Better still, if can use different putters (with diff hosel) and try to sink in from 3 feet. See which one give u best results n that is probably the better putter , not necessarily the type of putter u like n feel though..

| Bro, I read somewhere that pipe-style putter helps to provide more accurate alignment for those with parallax error vision. It used to be quite common, but i think it's collectors item now:

| Hi colin.
I tried a "H" shaped putter at octanegolf bukit timah tdy. Quite easy to use. The shape helps in alignment as well. Since u have parrallex i maybe wanna give it a try.

| Normally I use a line on the ball and align it to where I want the ball to go. Once I get into stance I have one less thing to worry about (direction). This leaves me only with the distance (power) to focus on. Also an important thing I noticed that has lowered my putts is to keep my arms as quiet as possible through my swing, i.e. use other muscles to generate the power, e.g the stomach or shoulders. | |

I use open stance leh, how? u came, u understand but you naturally revert to your usual ways.. to improve permanently, you have to use one method that you choose and stick to it (its natural for some to tweak their putting in the middle of the round, but it will have hellish results). in your case Colin, keeping a flat head, having the ball in the same position, a neutral right grip are key. more importantly stick to one putter for the rest of the year.
