SOS ... Need a coach Empty
PostSubject: SOS ... Need a coach   SOS ... Need a coach I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 14, 2009 11:44 am

Problem with my game .. hooks, draws and push ball ... needs a coach HELP
Need advice from GPians.
Assuming all coaches are equal in knowledge(variable is the student ability), what do I look out for?
a) range? does it matter?
b) video analysis for each session?
c) pricing?
d) any recommendation for coaches taking into consideration above points?

Not sure if my question above is appropriate given that GP has Pros here giving advice.
Just so sianz of my inconsistency (90 to 110), Sad that I am going to take lessons this evening but dunno who to go to. No

Thanks in advance for advice! Cheers!

a) I suppose it matters a wee bit if you have to travel from changi to jurong. But if you have the time, then it is not the most important factor.

b) i am sure if you wish, any pro can do a video every session.

c) some charges more and some less. Market rate is about the same. Though some coaches may charge more, but they are also more flexible and stay with you for longer than the time allocated. It will certainly be cheap if you take in group of 6 but honestly, can you learn much? If you do not learn anything, every dollar spent is a dollar too much even if it is cheap. If you achieve your target, it is money well spent. Most ppl spend thousands changing clubs to get better score, if a good coach can get your scores down without you needing to buy your score, then it is every dollar well spent.

d) i think coaches are personal....you need to click with them. Why not look up all the pros details, call them up or visit them. Have a chat and hit some balls. Let them advise you on the game plan. Choose one that you are comfortable.

what sunny said plus...

I think at the most it should be a 2:1 ratio...

sometimes. one on one is really mentally draining and not very effective. cost after he teaches you a 'new thing' you also need some time to practice it before he corrects it etc. so maybe you may consider having a friend go with you...

I fully agree that you have to 'click' with the coach---to fully grasp what's he trying to tell you also.

For (d), in practice, do coaches charge for the advice? I dun mind paying but just dun want to fork out $$ when there is no need to. Would be heartbroken to realise later when I could use the $$ to play a few rounds in JB.
Yah, i think i will call up a coach now and just book a time. Just cannot tahan anymore the thought of missing the green from 100m. No

the pros in our forum do offer free advise.

If you want lesson, just find someone that is convenient for you. Call them up and check with them about charges and availability and/or make a trip down. I am sure you will not regret.
