PostSubject: Info on golfing in Langkawi   Info on golfing in Langkawi I_icon_minitimeWed Oct 14, 2009 12:13 am

Hi all fellow golfers. I'm a beginner that's looking forward to having a game in Langkawi as part of a short holiday. However none of my fellow friends on the trip have any PC or HCP. Does anyone have any experience golfing there and recommendations of golf course that will 'allow' non PC and non HCPers to play there?

Hi tjchan,

Pretty easy to look up via the net. Helped you with it. It's a combination of two posts so no info on green fee for the first club. I've played Datai Bay years ago and I would advise against it for a beginner, not an easy course, but very scenic. Expect lots of lost balls and slow play in your foursome. Course was pretty much empty when I played. Note that it highly possibly is for guests of the Datai Bay only, Doesn't hurt to check with them though. Visitors are not aware, but there is a 19th hole (real one), a novelty par 3 over the rocky beach, all carry if I remember correctly, I didn't make it across, lol. Best if you check with the clubs direct on whether you and your friends can play.

As guests, remember to rake the bunkers and replace divots, not doing so is one of the main reasons why some clubs don't allow beginners onto their courses. Good luck and have fun. Very Happy

thanks for the reply... i saw these info on the net as well but i read that HCP is needed for Gunung Raya. And Lagkawi Golf Club is under renovation.... thus i'm at a dilemma as in whether to really have a game at langkawi. i'll send an enquiry to gunung raya, the datai course i also read that its very challenging for beginners and the green fees are relatively high too. anyone with personal experience can please add comments and advise? thanks many many. Very Happy
