The older/current M3 is a much better car than the old/new 335I. If you are getting pre-owned, i suggest looking for M3. Less maintenance headache. Terror or not, both cars u will do it, just performance wise, the M3 is a class of its own well deserving of the M badge.

Hi mate, is the Jag XF more responsive and less lackluster than the new 335i ?

I've not personally driven the XF before, but just sat in one. Was just saying that since the 335 doesn't drive THAT well, which is traditionally the main selling point for BMWs, you might want to look at other models. In terms of interior and comfort, I'd take the XF over it anytime.

Otherwise, an Audi S4 might also be another alternative? I've tried the S5 with same 3.0T engine before and it is a gem of an engine, revs very freely and no turbo lag. It's 4 wheel drive though, so the driving feel will be quite different.

I'd suggest heading down to the showrooms to test drive the car and have a look at them in the flesh. Nothing beats looking at them and driving them personally.

Agreed, the 1M is a fantastic little car!

But it does lack the space that the larger models offer, the rear seats are strictly for children only.

Also, I think they're sold out locally since it's supposed to be a limited edition model. Have to look for used ones or order from parallel importers.
